Hello fellow passengers! We are a family of 5 currently booked in a Cat.4 family stateroom. We are booked in cabin
8056. Has anyone ever stayed in this room? I'm just a little paranoid(OK, I'm one of the compulsive bunch) that it will be a bit noisy since we are above the pool area. We have three kids and would hate to be up till all hours with them. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated!
BTW, this is my first post! We are sailing Feb. 4th, 2006.

We've stayed in 8066 (comp upgrade at the port). I did notice a good bit of noise, but, honestly, it was mostly when we were out on the verandah. It was quite irritating to sit out there, nearly anytime of the day. I could hear pool chairs and ping pong balls and even people walking across the deck. BUT..that being said, I did not hear any of these noises from within the room itself when the verandah door was closed.

HTH.

Thanks ohiominnie!
I always thought it was best to stay in the middle of the ship, instead of at the ends due to the "motion". Maybe this is not true with the larger ships? I agree, it may be a bit annoying hearing all the activity on the verandah while I'm sipping my wine and the kiddies are hopefully sleeping! Maybe a room change is in store. Any suggestions on some great cabins on Deck 8???

Unfortunately, the way the ship was designed, the 9th deck juts out almost entirely over the 8th. I think the only exception is with the handicap rooms in the aft section. We've stayed in 8022 and 8532. I found that 8022 was much quieter. We were more underneath the adult pool and spa area. With both rooms, we could hear people walking overhead when sitting out on the verandah. You will probably be fine with room noise because you're closer to the Mickey pool and that closes up earlier than the others.

nordicskidoodle - let me know how 8056 works out - we'll be in same cabin starting March 3!!

Hopefully the noise problem isn't an issue - I actually asked to be moved to this location as I was originally booked in cabin under the Goofy pool and one of the guidebooks said that was noisy.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Hey...I finally found someone else sailing on March 3! Are you on one of the cruise meets?

I am sure you meant to say "below" the pool deck....Cat 4's are on Deck 8 and pool deck is deck 9 (there are no passenger cabins above the pool deck).

We have stayed in Cat 4 a few times and did hear some arranging of chairs once in awhile but nothing that really deterred us from sleep or enjoyment of the cabin.

Hi-We were in cabin 8028 on the 1/4 sailing on the Magic. We heard deck chairs being moved in the middle of the night. We were above the adult pool and would not say there again. We are light sleepers.
The third night it started at 3:00am for about 45 minutes and the last night we were woken up ay 4:45am with cm moving stuff around. It drove me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought it would be quiter under the Adult pool.It also woke up DH and DD. We heard more noise in the middle of the night than during the day if we were in the room. We spoke to Guest Services and they promised us after the first time it happened that it would not happen again and it did. I loved the room but not the noise in the middle of the night. Just an FYI. Next time we will go under the SPA on deck 8 or on deck 7-cat 5. Gail :flower1:

mudangel77 -
I'm really new to all this, so no, I have not arranged for any cruise meets - if there's something organized for the March 3 Wonder cruise, let me know!!

As to the noise issue - I'm a very light sleeper myself (especially when I'm away from home). I always sleep with an electric fan going - the white noise tends to drown out other noises - so I'm bringing my small fan with me. i look at it this way - whatever sleep I lose, I'll catch up while I'm on the beach!

Thanks everyone for your input on my assigned room.
It seems the general concensus is that it will be a bit noisy from chairs moving on the deck above us. I am a light sleeper and so is my DD who is disabled and has to take sleep medication. If she wakes up-we're all up!!! I think I will try to change my room to under the spa area. Hopefully not too much rocking motion on that end. Maybe I'll tell DH we must move to a 1 bedroom suite-TEE HEE!!!

We were assigned this cabin for Sept 1st 3 day sailing on the Wonder.
We always stay in the front of the ship....I guess mid ship will be okay.

We just got home last night! My thoughts on 8056...the sound really wasn't an issue - with the sliding glass door to the veranda closed we really couldn't hear much - slept very soundly (I was surprised and pleased at the quality of the bed linens...they must have been at least 300 thread count - soft as can be!).

I really liked the location - there was much less movement in the mid-ship area, which was appreciated on the first night of the cruise as we could feel some movement during dinner, but not so much when we got back to our room. :)

Also - it was a quick walk down the hall and up the stairs to the deck 9 beverage station, Scoops ice cream, etc. It was also a quick walk down the hall and down a flight of stairs to the laundry on the 7th floor.

Next time, however, I may try for the other side of the ship. That way, when we dock in Castaway Cay, you have a veranda view of the beaches, instead of the dock. :cheer2:

I also found the clear plastic shoe organizer a great help to keep things tidy - although it didn't work over the door (too tight and didn't want to scratch the paint), it worked perfectly hung over the towel bar in the bathroom.

Any questions - please let me know!! :wizard:

All in all a great time, although the weather was a bit moody.
