i just read that Cabanas is open the last morning of the trip before you disembark. Is that correct? We went to the dining room. I thought I recalled that it was our only option but we would have loved to go to Cabanas instead!

Yes we always go to Cabanas on our last morning. I just make sure to give our servers their tip envelopes the night before, and explain that we won't be in the MDR at 6.30 for breakfast!
It is quite busy, but perfectly fine. There's still quite a wide choice of food too.

Claire :)

We don't go to the dining room for departure breakfast because (1) it is too early for us, since we always choose the first seating time (2) the menu is limited (3) the meal, I hear, can seem rushed, and (4) we love the great buffet choices, relative quiet, view and leisure of Cabanas.

We, of course, always tell our servers we won't be there. Tips are handed out the night before so that isn't a concern.

We did this on our recent Alaska cruise. It was our 5th cruise and the past had always gone to a dinning room. We will now always do cabanas. It was so much easier. There was a variety of food not as much as a normal breakfast but plenty enough for us.

We actually just went to our first dining room breakfast on our Alaska cruise. It was fun to see our servers, but the food was better in Cabanas. This was also the first time we had late dining. The early seating for breakfast is just way too early.

Anyone know if they have oatmeal at Cabanas on the last morning? I have a picky kiddo! Thanks!

Maybe some else knows for sure, but I have not seen oatmeal. Toast/bagels etc, scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins. That kind of stuff.

You could probably tell your server and s/he could have it for the kid in the MDR - I know mine had gluten-free pancakes for me the last morning. But I don't know about special orders in Cabanas.

(Gotta say...it's making me giggle this morning thinking about a kid who likes oatmeal being described as "picky". I always think of oatmeal as something picky eaters run from. :) )

We always do lunch and breakfast (including last day) in Cabanas. Most of the time for breakfast I load up a plate and take it to the room or an adults only area.
