Hi All,

I know this has been covered but I'm at a month now and just now thought we might rent one at the last minute!

If you did one which one? How far in advance did you book?

Also, any discounts for DVC or Disney Visa Members?

Thank you!

I hope you have some options available during your trip...
We are going to be there Sat - Sat starting July 12th. I booked a Ka Maka Cabana for Monday and Friday (it was the last cabana available - both days - when I booked them in April). I booked the Executive Lanai for Wed...also booked in April. I decided to call to book the lanai on Fri too so that we could decide which one we liked better, and could cancel the one we did not want, but the lanai was already booked on Fri.

From what I see, the benefits of the cabana are that they are closer to the pool(s), have electricity for the fan, fridge, music.
The lanai overlooks the beach and appears to have more seating available.
Both bookings can receive a 10% DVC discount. The cabana is $325 + tax and the Lanai is $275 + tax.

They appeared to be booking the cabanas and lanai pretty far ahead, so hopefully you can secure something. You should call the hotel directly to inquire. Some of the agents are not aware that the lanai can be booked ahead of time. I had to go through a few agents until I finally found someone who was willing to look into it a little further, and was able to find the lanai booking area.

Good luck and hope this helps...

If they are booked there is a lovely area in between AMA AMA and the beach. Orange umbrellas and padded seats. These are free. There are also some with gray umbrellas in front of the infinity pool. If traveling with all adults, the adult pool always seems to be very quiet.

Thanks! My husband was just getting over a medical problem and can't be in the direct sun.

I need to look in to those chairs with the canopy for the beach too, but I assume I need to wait to get one when we arrive.

When we were there in May the chairs on the beach with the covering were not taken at all. Since they are rentals if you go as soon as you arrive and speak to the beach staff and mention that you need them because of a medical problem, I would hope that you could prepay for the length of your stay.

We went over Christmas week, and had no cabana reservations (they were all booked when we decided to go...we only booked our vacation a week in advance!) We were able to get the Executive Lanai all but one day of our stay, as they had cancellations. The best thing to do is check with the front desk right when you get there, and then check with the desk next to the Rainbow Reef early each morning. The Rainbow Reef people know who has checked in for their reservation, and they are the first to know if there's a cancellation. Good luck!
