Cabana rental at DLH in June worthwhile?

Is renting a cabana at the DLH pool worthwhile for a weekend in June?

  • Yes, keep your reservation, you won't regret it!

  • Maybe. It could be really busy so it's better to keep it.

  • No, there will always be somewhere to sit so save the $ for something else.

  • Obligatory other.

I went ahead and reserved a cabana at the DLH for a Sunday afternoon in June (when most APs are not blocked), but now I'm having second thoughts. I initially figured it would be worthwhile because we're going in June, I know the parks will be crowded, and this is our first on-site stay with the DDs so I definitely want pool time.

But now I'm wondering if I should save the cabana rental money and just hope that I can snag some "free" seats during our afternoon break. We don't need the TV or the mini-fridge, so I really am most interested in the fact that the cabanas have shade and guarantee us a spot to relax for a few hours.

For those who have been to the DLH pool in June/July on a weekend, do you think the cabana is worth it? I'm already splurging to stay on-site, so I don't want to be kicking myself when it turns out there's nowhere to sit or I'm sweating up a storm in an undesirable seat in full sun. But I also think that $149 for a 1/2 day rental could go toward a nice meal somewhere.

I vote to keep the reservation! My family beloved our cabana rental in December. It was great to have spots in the shade (it was sunny and in the 70s, nowhere near June temperatures) and towels at the ready. We also ordered food and drinks, which was great.

That's a tough one. Based on your countdown, you'll arrive on the 7th, meaning your cabana is scheduled on the 8th? If so, hmm. I'd be looking for a pool day (or half day) later in the trip. I'd probably still be at the pool every day at the DLH, but I'm not sure I'd dedicate that much time to the pool on my second day, first full day, of my trip even if it's a Sunday.

Being the first weekend in June, many schools will not be out yet, so crowds may not be as bad as you expect. Depending on how many days you'll be there, I may look to reschedule later in the trip. Is there a grad night during your trip. That may be a good day to take an afternoon off.

We only have 4 days, Saturday we arrive late in the day (and it's a grad night) so I want to get into the park as soon as we can. We leave Tuesday late morning, so we only have Sun and Mon as options for an afternoon pool break. I figured Monday *should* be less busy than Sunday, so that's why I opted for Sunday cabana.

Anyhow, thanks for the feedback so far!

The park will be very busy on Sunday, a cabana day will be fun. If it is warm, it will be crowded and you will enjoy the cabana. We have one for our July trip. We did it last year and LOVED IT.

Loved my GC cabana a few weeks ago. Racked up a solid $300 drink tab and almost died. ( ok not really on the dying part )

Was awesome - seriously.

LOL, if I racked up a $300 bar bill I probably would love everything about the cabana! :)

I just worry I will kick myself if I see a ton of empty chairs on Sunday, as it will feel like a waste of money.

We are holding a DLH cabana reservation for Saturday, 6/7. We are on the fence about it as well. If the weather is like last week's (hitting the 100 degree mark), we will definitely keep the cabana. If the weather is like today's (only in the high 60's)...we will cancel it.
