Cabana Bay Lazy River Floats

Getting down to details now. We'll be there next week.

Does anyone know the price of the floats they sell for the lazy river? Is that a purchase or rental? What kind of float is it?

Wondering what to pack (assuming I can find floaties in Ohio now). Blow-up mattress, blow-up rings, foam noodles?

If kids don't float will they want water shoes? Sometimes lazy rivers just chew up our feet.

We are family of 7 with 2 adults and kids 12 and 14.

The lazy river does not require the floats. You can get in and drift. I imagine if you are going around for hours your feet would get sore. But we didn't do it that long and had fun.

The floats at the kiosk vary in size and shape. I think the cheapest was $7, but that was like 'minitube'. The real big ones are maybe $15. They are for sale, not rental. You keep them for the duration of your stay.

The downside is you keep them for the duration of your stay. If you look up at the rooms, you can see how people store them in the window sills as they take up room. Though if you deflate them each night to save space, the kiosk will re-inflate them whenever you need to (for free).

Our Kmart has pool floats and toys on sale right now. Everytime I'm over there I forget to look for something to float around the lazy river on.

I just bought those inflatable noodles for the lazy river too! Great price for
6 of them and pretty sturdy according to the majority of reviews. Is it weird that I'm more excited about the lazy river than the kids are?

Just returned a few weeks ago. We took our own tubes. But we watched a family poolside get really upset that tubes were not offered for free. They eventually came over an asked us about ours. We said we brought them with us and blew them up upon arrival. Amazing to watch those who dont research their trips.

Are floats permitted in the other pools at all the resorts? I know CB is the only one with a lazy river. We are staying at RPR but thinking about hopping to CB one day. We'd buy the floats if we could bring them back to RPR and use them in their pool as well.

The largest was $8 yesterday. Also, we saw people at RPH pool with floats, but only one day, and we walked by daily. So, not sure the official policy on them.

also, for the earlier question. The btm of the lazy river is smoother than any I've been in. Our feet were totally fine without shoes...and I walked they it many times holding my little one (who was in a puddle jumper).

They no longer sell the floats you sit on. DH had them fill his, and the shack attendant warned him to not be too crazy on it. They quit selling them because they were falling apart.

Many people had donut style floats that I think they purchased there. Maybe $8? They had them in the pool. Many used them for floating during the evening movie.

Just back yesterday. They had two tubes for sale. $5 for one that looked like a tire, $8 for a clear one with a printed design.

They're no longer selling the ones with a closed center. The ones they sell all have open middles. If that makes sense.

Just have to say how ridiculous that seems - you have to *purchase* floats for the lazy river and store them in your room yourself?! Wow, talk about nickeling and diming... I would really expect tubes to be provided at a water park like attraction like that. Are the towels provided for free at least? Geez.

You don't have to buy one to be in the lazy river. Towels are free.

We just booked for our first time ever at universal. I've been reading about Cabana Bay, trying to prepare for our stay. I see that a few have mentioned staff inflating personals for free but these posts are from last year. Anyone been recently that can weigh in? I know policy changes from time to time. Just trying to decide if we need to include a hand pump in our suitcase. Or will they still fill for FREE ?? Thanks

They will fill your flotation devices for free. The TMs were very nice about it. No need to pack a pump.
Towels are available out by the pool, no limits.

I used the top one at a local water park this weekend. It was PERFECT. Easily transportable and I thought it was easier to use than a full donut shaped tube.

We bought the medium ones and the kids still blow them up on their own when we go to the beach. They have managed to semi-pay for themselves.

We brought our own that I ordered on Amazon. Got two 36" tubes for $9.50.
They were selling the same kind at the pool (I didn't see the price, but I think for $10 each). They filled them for us, no problem. We didn't want to pack them when we left and we couldn't find anyone to give them to when we left the pool, so we just put them on a table hoping someone would grab them.

Beach Club at Disney is even worse! Charge to rent and can NOT bring your own!! I did have to visit with the manager on that one...$350/night room (on our way to a 5-night Disney cruise) and having to pay every day to rent tubes?!!?!
