Cab fare calculator vs. real fare from airport question

The Mears cab fare calculator from MCO to a Universal Hotel shows $35 one way. I've read on these boards it's actually $50. Can anyone confirm the fare? Why the difference? (we will be arriving late after rush hour)

If it is around $100 round trip is that without tip? If so, maybe a Town Car Service might be a better option.

There's no way it is $35. It cost us $47 to go from the airport to the hotels and then $43 going back. Not sure why the discrepancy. Then you have to add in your tip. There are a couple of tolls in there that you have to add in. A car service will cost you pretty much the same.

Mears needs to update their site. It was $35 in 2002!

Lol Damo. In late Aug. our experience was exactly the opposite.

MCO-PBH was $42.90
PBH-MCO was $47.00
(exclusive of tip)

I thought the rates were fixed. Why the differance?

The only thing I can think of is traffic and actual driving time.

Do you have to pay the tolls or does the driver? Is the toll added to the total fare? If so, do the cabs have an EZPass or do I need to hand the driver cash as he approaches a toll booth?

The driver pays the toll and adds it on to the fare.
