Cab costs within WDW

Mom and I will be taking a cab from Pop Century Resort to Port Orleans French Quarter and also after a couple of dinners at other resorts we will likely take a cab as well back to the French Quarter. As I am trying to budget, what should I expect to pay for each cab ride for 2 adults? We'll be traveling from AKL to POFQ, from POLY to POFQ, and from CONT to POFQ. How much did you have to pay and which cab company is going to be my best bet? Also not knowing my way around WDW, I want someone reputable and not to be taking the long way or going in circles just to increase my fare.

Last week (Oct. 10) we paid $15 (incl. tip) for 4 to ride from Beach Club to Wilderness Lodge.

Mears has the contract to operate cabs on property. Other companies are there too, but Disney tries to limit the official cabs to Mears (with mixed amount of effort - i.e. infrequently the bellhops call security). The Bell Hop will call you a cab and have a schedule of what you can expect to pay from point to point within Disney. Pay with credit card - that way if you have any issues they can track the transaction. We've generally found its about $15-20 for the vast majority of cab rides in Disney.

We paid 20.25 for a ride from Fort Wilderness to the All Star Music. That doesnt include the tip. It was worth every penny!!!!!!

We were at BLT& also at OKW last week, which is kind of near POFQ. We took several cabs (BLT to Yachtsman, Epcot, OKW to Grand Floridian) and they were each around $18-20 without tip. Seems like you can budget at least $20 plus tip for each trip, just to be safe.

I agree with the PPs. I paid about $20 each for a ride from the Contemporary to Pop and from the GF to Pop last week. The cabs have always been Mears and I have just had Bell Services call them for me.

Current taxi fare in the Orlando area is $2.20 for the first 1/4 mile and then 55¢ for each additional 1/4 mile (or 80 seconds of waiting time). In addition, there is a $0.50 surcharge on all rides (except the surcharge is $1.00 to or from the airport).

I have seen a recent report that this is the 5th highest taxi fare in the country.

Because of the road layouts, most taxi fares within WDW tend to be in the $15 - $20 range.

And Checker, City, and Yellow Cab are all Mears Transportation. Basically they are the only ones allowed to be at the taxi stands in WDW.

Prices must have gone up, because when I've used taxis I haven't paid more than $15( ASMu to Poly) and usually closer to $10-12.

Thank you everyone! I will budget twenty dollars each ride then for the two of us. It will be really nice to get a cab rather than take the busses after a long park day and full stomachs from dinner.

It was 25.00 (with tip) from POR to AKL in Nov. 2010.

From POFQ to the Contemporary, it was 15.00 (with tip) in Sept. 2011. Totally worth it!

Two years ago it was $10 for a cab from POR to Pop. That's without tip.

When we were there in September, 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) took a cab from POFQ to AKL. The fare was $18.00 and we gave a tip. Totally worth not having to take the bus!

You can ask the concierge also what the expected fare is and they will give you a ballpark guess. Ours was spot on.

We took that exact trip several weeks ago (dd14 wanted to eat at PO). If I remember correctly the total came to $9.90. I gave him either $12 or $13 It was a minivan (only because that was the next taxi in the cue) and it was 1 adult and 3 kids-but I don't beleive they charge any extra for multiple people.
