Everyone knows that having some sort of a backup when on a road trip is good preparation. How many driving to Disney have had, and more importantly used CAA.

We're trying to figure out if it is worth the cost of joining.

I always have CAA, but have never had to use it. I think it is worth it for the Disney Ticket Discounts as well as movies and other attractions.

I love CAA and have used them for flat tires, a battery boost, locking my keys inside, and towing my DH's car that broke down right in front of our driveway. And this is all locally, not on a road trip. I would hate to imagine not having CAA on a road trip. Along with the discounts, the cost of membership to me is money well spent.

In addition to the road assistance CAA's trip planning is great.
Having real maps, trip tiks (sp?), and tour books is great.
I love google maps but having a map in hand is great.

I had a tow truck driver in Florida try to charge me $ 50 for a boost ( I had called AAA but the dispatcher forgot to tell the driver )he did accept the CAA card all though he was not happy . I have all so run out of gas 1 mile from my last planned gas stop ( Just before the border ) a snow plow driver called AAA for me and they delivered me 2 gallons of gas at no charge .I also have saved $ 20 to $ 30 per trip in hotel discounts .Even with out this the maps trip ticks and guide books are worth the cost

Last winter we arrived back to Buffalo after a week at Disney to find that one of our car's engine had frozen. Sitting in the parking lot at the Sleep Inn - would not go!! We had just arrived 4 hours later than planned because of a delayed flight - so it was 2am! We tried to boost my dad's car from ours and it did not even come close to working. Called CAA and they arranged for a tow truck to bring it to the border (had to be a flat bed as this was a Land Rover) and then from the border a canadian truck met them and brought it to the mechanic from there. Definitely worth the membership!!

I used my CAA for discounts on hotel and motels a lot.

Also, TRIPtiks are the best. I love them.

If I did not have CAA, with my luck, I would break down right then.

We used it once in Orlando. We got up in the morning and got in the car to head to the parks and nothing. We could not figure it out. A CAA tow truck came and tried to boost us and it did not work and then he gave us the 2 gallons of gas. Well we started right up. We were out of gas but the car showed 1/8 tank left (closer to 1/4 tank)

the gas gauge was stuck and I would never have known. It was a great releif to know we had CAA in case after that.

We even bought it on our first trip with a brand new car because we like the peace of mind even though we were so strapped for cash, I just ould not chance it.

WE have been members for about a year. A friend saved my butt when I locked myself out of the car. CAA showed up in 15 minutes and had it open in about 60 seconds. Would have cost me 50 dollars for the same service from a private tow truck. Joined the next day.

Hotel discounts will pay for themselves. CAA rate is better than I get with my major multinational company corporate rate (I use CAA for business reservations !).

I am disappointed that they dropped Sunoco (or other way around) as our renewal for this year for both of us cost me about 20 dollars after all the points were worked in (buy a lot of gas on company travel).

Join up since you can't join and use the service the same day. Its worth it.

I use some CAA discounts on every trip. Have used the repair/rescue me services from time to time. It is SO worth it to have CAA if you drive and travel.

I talked to them yesterday. They have a Basic and a Plus membership. The Basic gets you 5km of towing and you pay for the gas they bring. The Plus has 200km of towing and the gas is FREE that they bring you. I was told $83 for the Basic and $117 for the Plus. She said when you renew it is usually discounted. It sounds like a good thing.

Since we're on the topic of CAA, how does their Disney pricing work?

We normally book hotel/tix/dining via Disney Travel, but I'm seeing people commenting on a standard 20% promo year round. Is this correct? Is it just on hotel, or a whole package? :confused3
