We're going to be getting trip insurance, and I'm I'm just wondering if a regular clinic visit and prescription for a cold or earache would be covered under this or does it have to be a real emergency? Thanks!
I'm not sure which travel insurance company the CAA uses. But if it's a RBC (Royal Bank) insurance, then you are covered for both the doctor's visit and your prescriptions. My DD6 got an earache and had to go see the Disney doctor during our last trip. We just call the 1-800 number and the insurance company looked after everything. They covered for doctor's fee directly. We didn't have to pay for the office visit. We paid for a prescription for some antibiotic upfront, but was reimbursed the full cost when we got home.

Edit to add: We bought the deluxe package which included medical insurance.
I work at CAA and sell the insurance regularily. The company is ETFS and yes it will cover the expenses you are asking about. You must call CAA medical first if at all possible and they will arrange payment with the facility for you. In some cases for small expenses such as these you would have to pay up front (if the clinic for example had this as a rule) and they would re-imburse you when you get home
We used the CAA policy a few years back when in Orlando I got an eye infection. I called the phone number listed first and they approved the clinic where I went. It ended up costing us $150.00 CND which we paid with our CC and then CAA insurance reimbursed us. We use CAA insurance each trip and have always been happy with them.
Do you have to be a CAA member to get the CAA trip insurance? I am a member but the other people in my party are not. I'm taking my 88-year-old grandma to WDW next month. Will she be able to get the trip insurance from CAA? She's pretty healthy... does she need any documentation from the doctor in order to get the insurance? Thanks!
We do have non member rates as well which are slightly higher than member rates. However, at 88 your grandmother will be quite high. I am not at work today so I can't check but it is probably in the neighborhood of $40 per day. It also wouldn't cover any pre existing condition that has not been stable for 12 months (no med changes, no dr's visits for it etc). I can check tomorrow for sure if you'd like.
