I have been dream trip planning again. If you can imagine that.

I am interested in the Disneyland/Hollywood ABD trip. There are several VIP tours that are included in the package. Does anyone know if the VIP tours of Disneyland or the Jim Henson Studios are offered to the general public outside of ABD? I would like to do most of the things offered during this trip, but I also would like to spend a few extra days knocking around southern California. If there is a possiblity of doing those tours without going on the "packaged" ABD trip, I am almost positive that I could talk Gabby into going. TIA Maggie

Day 1
Arrive in Los Angeles
Upon arrival, you will be met by an Adventures by Disney representative who will escort you to your transfer vehicle. Relax as the driver assists with your luggage and escorts you to the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.

The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel
Meet your Adventure Guide upon arrival at your stylish hotel in the heart of Hollywood. You are steps away from world-famous Hollywood landmarks like Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Kodak Theatre. Many restaurants are close by, as well as Hollywood & Highland, a first-class shopping and entertainment center.

Welcome Dinner at Trastevere Ristorante
Get ready for a fun game of Disney trivia and then enjoy a delicious Italian dinner at this fine Hollywood & Highland restaurant.

Day 2
Behind the Scenes at The El Capitan Theatre
Step into Hollywood's past with a backstage tour of the ornate El Capitan Theatre, lovingly restored as a venue for Disney films and live shows.

Backstage at Jimmy Kimmel Live

On a backstage tour, explore this historic theater and hear some entertaining inside stories about the day-to-day excitement involved in producing a nightly comedy-variety show packed with celebrity guests and top music acts.

The Jim Henson Company Studio Tour and Lunch
This historic studio was built in 1917 by Charlie Chaplin. Now home to The Jim Henson Company, it's not open to just anybody! The Stars of Hollywood
On the trip back to the hotel, cruise by some of Hollywood's most famous landmarks. After the brief privately guided tour, stroll on the Walk of the Stars and compare your own hands and feet to the hand and footprints of your favorite performers at Grauman's Chinese Theater.

On Your Own in Hollywood
In the evening, you are on your own to relax or enjoy the wide variety of restaurants and activities in this vibrant area. Your Adventure Guides can make recommendations.

The big appeal of this package is that these tours are supposedly exclusive. I booked for April of 2008, and on both calls the ABD agents stressed that they are NOT offered outside of the package.

Great blog ... Would have loved the backstage tour of the theater!!!!

Thanks for the info. I guess this is going on the back burner for a bit, but it's still pretty nifty. Maggie

IS the amount of time they give you in DL enough to get it all done? It will be summertime for us if we decide to go and have been considering going to DL for quite some time since we go to WDW every year, and thought this would be an awesome way to go!

I'm guessing that with the special VIP fast passes it will be plenty of time.

Thats kind of what I was thinking. This will be our first ABD trip and the price seems high, but I would assume being Disney you get what you pay for!
