my 14 yr old just told me that cookie monster is no longer on sesame street or that he is now eating vegies. Is this true ???? I hope not.

I understand that vegies are good but why can't cookie monster have a cousin that eats veggies.

SS is pushing a healthier diet for the kiddies. It's pretty subtle, about like learning letters and numbers. I'm all for it.

Cookie Monster Still eats cookies but not as much as he used to and he does now eat vegetables because they are yummy too...

sorry to hear its true cookie. I have followed your lifestyle for the past 35 years I try my best to stay away from veggies YUCK. ( I feed them to my kids though ) anyway I am very healthy, I seem to be the only one who does not get sick. Maybe you can sneek some cookies while the producers, writers and kids are not watching I won't tell.

Umm, I watch SS everyday with my two boys. Cookie monster still eats lots of cookies. They now have a few segments that feature Adults or other muppets encouraging him to try new foods, like veggies and fruits. He still eats the letter of the day cookie, and has lots of other segments where he eats lots of cookies.

I have to say I like to change, it is very small, but I think it will be effective. I love the song "A cookie is a sometimes food"

DH sings this song all the time. He's obsessed with that song...except in his version it's not just "Cookie Cookie Cookie starts with C". Add about 300 more Cookies and you'll have the song he sings.

As someone else who watches SS everyday with a small child, I can confirm that although Cookie Monster does sometimes eat veggies and fruit (and sings the "A cookie is a sometimes fruit"), the vast majority of Cookie's time on screen is still devoted to him consuming cookies and going crazy with wanting to eat cookies. So don't be alarmed! Cookie Monster is alive, well, and still obsessed with eating cookies! There's just a small and occasional moment where another character encourages him to try other foods and reminds the kids that "cookies are a sometimes food".

(Oh, and small children still try to imitate how Cookie Monster eats cookies...as evidenced by the child I watch SS with every morning...)

False!
Cookie Monster is still on Sesame Street and he still eats cookies! Relax.
There've been maybe 2 episodes where he ate something healthy - in addition to cookies, but reports of Cookie Monster's healthful eating habits have been greatly exaggerated.
I have noticed that Cookie Monster is no longer into eating phones, plates and other assorted objects anymore though. Generally just the letter of the day cookie.

I have a 3yo named Celeste, so in our house, the song is, "C is for Celeste..." It's a riot to hear DD walking around the house singing, "C is for me, that's good enough for me!"

Personally, I don't agree with some of the more "politcally correct" aspects of SS, but still think it's a great show. It was a sad day in our house when Joe Raposo died (he wrote "C is for Cookie", along with many other classic SS tunes.)
