Looking at a B2B, I am silver for 1st but that one would make me gold. When checking in for 2nd cruise will I be recognised as gold straight away or does it take a few days to get into the system
Regards Michael

I'm not aware of any delay in the process... hopefully someone here has been in the same situation and can confirm!

We have changed CC status levels as a result of a B2B. For online checking in for the second cruise you would still be silver because you had not yet obtained gold status. When you B2B at Port Canaveral you just pop up the stairs and check-in is super easy, and usually you get priority boarding back onto the ship before all other guests, including concierge.

What this means is that your chance to reserve excursions, on board activities, port arrival time (not that it matters on a B2B) is based on your silver status. When you check in for the second cruise, make sure that they have you marked as now being gold. You want to be sure to get your new lanyard AND your shopping discounts.

When it happened for my husband & I during a B2B, the system updated immediately and we were given our platinum lanyards when checking in for cruise #2. When it happened for my kids during a B2B, they were not given their platinum lanyards when checking in for cruise #2. I asked the CM checking us in and she said the system was not showing their new status yet and if we wanted the platinum lanyards then we would have to go to guest services on the ship. So it seems it varies. We were in Vancouver for me & my husband, and in NYC for the kids FWIW.

This was our experience when changing from Silver to Gold on a B2B. They knew right away and the Gold CC gift was waiting on our bed when we got to our room.

Thanks for your help and information. Would it make any difference if sailing out of Miami.

Not sure what part you are talking about. I assume you mean turnaround day. While it sometimes depends I am going to assume that DCL is not going to escort every B2B cruiser on and off (though they sometimes do). Since it is a US port, you will need to get off the ship and go through customs. As soon as you get through customs, find a DCL cast member and let them know you are doing Back to Back and how you should get to the check in area to check in again. I wouldn't be surprised if there already topics concerning this acivity at port Miami on the forums, but I'll let you do the searching for yourself.

Our B2B experience at Miami Port last year was very different than what we experienced is PC. We were asked to meet at the D-Lounge at a specific time, waited 45 minutes there with other B2B’ers, went all together through immigration and back at the check-in counters. We followed a special path through the terminal different from the one used by regular guests getting off, and the immigration officer was standing around in the middle of nowhere.

When we did a B2B in PC, we were left on our own and were asked to leave the ship when we wished to do so. We went off the ship once we saw no one was left leaving the ship. We were hanging around the atrium, watching the guests leaving and the crew setting up for our second cruise. After going through the regular immigration line, we had to mention to a CM that we were doing a B2B and were shown a door to go back up to the check-in hall.

To answer the OP’s question, we switched from gold to platinum in the middle of the PC B2B. We received our black lanyard and we had the Platinum level gift card in our room.
