My pretty little Golden retriever, Stormy, was euthanized today. She was a good girl who lived to the ripe old age of almost 16.
She was on her THIRD bout wirh cancer, had lost all of her strength in her back end, and basically could no longer do anything for herself. She had probably lost about 1/3 of her weight over the last few weeks.
Just all used up. Poor girl. Sometimes I think I probably waited too long to do this. My DW, who is a veterinarian, kept (gently) pushing me to make a decision for the last 2-3 months. I (probably selfishly) resisted until it was blatently obvious to even a bonehead like me, so she took her to the office and had one of the other doctors do what needed to be done.
See you at the Rainbow Bridge Stormy. You are a good girl and I'm going to miss you.
