BWVs Experts Needed--Waivering on view

I could use some help in figuring out what type of view we should request. My DH & I (no kids) have stayed at BC & BCVs in the past and have always requested a quiet room. In using these boards, I was planning on doing the same at BWVs for our Sept. trip, maybe something overlooking the quiet pool. Walking does not bother us, so I wasn't worried about requesting anything near the elevators. However, I have been reading about the nice views of the lake/YC/BC. We are not DVC, so maybe our requests wouldn't even be able to be honored. My questions are:

Is the BW really noisy?
If you have a view of the lake, are you also near the non-quiet pool (can't remember the name)? Is that pool area really noisy?

I guess what I was wondering was whether having a lake view means that you do not have quiet? And if that is true, is the lake view worth giving up the quietness for? Confusing I know....TIA!!

If you booked through CRO, chances are you will not be able to get a boardwalk/lake view. CRO reservations are all classified as standard view, which is on the parking lot side. Depending on occupancy levels, they may upgrade you to one of the preferred views, which would be the pools or boardwalk but the boardwalk views are only 20% of the rooms and are in high demand by DVC members who use preferred view points. You can make the request, but don't have high expectations.

As Debbie said, standard views are what you will most likely get. You can use the link below to see some view comments. Find your room type and than " - s" for standard.

They are getting a little stricter on requests. Apparently many adults turn into screaming children when "requests" are not met with the belief that these items are "demands". Remember a "bad view" at Boardwalk is better than most resorts good views.

The files are in adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

Good luck

Not all standard views are of the parking lot. We're DVC Members and sometimes don't want to use more points than necessary for a room.

We had a 1 BR Standard view that over looked the canal used by the boats to and from Epcot/MGM. It also had a wonderful view of the fireworks in Epcot and you could see the fireworks from the Fantasmic show each night. The parking lot was in the background but you really didn't notice it that much.

As for noise on the Boardwalk...I don't find it noisey. I can't tell you about the noise level at The Luna Pool (the pool with the slide) from a room, but I can tell you that there are people there late at night.

I hope you enjoy your trip and good luck in securing the view you would like!!

CRO used to allow you to book standard or preferred views. I thought they were now only booking preferred view, leaving the standard views available to DVC members who want to save points. That said lake/boardwalk views are going to go to DVC members. OP is likely to get a pool or canal view. I was told that CRO standard view reservations got upgraded first, they wanted to avoid treating some DVC memebers differently.

To answer the original question......yes, rooms with a view of the Boardwalk can be noisy. There are the boat horns and at night there is entertainment. Once when we were all sick we ended up with various musical entertainers playing right under our balcony quite late into the night. That was a situation of "be careful what you wish for" because normally I would have enjoyed it!

I do have to say though, the higher the floor the less noise you'll probably hear. Both rooms I've had with a BW view have been on the second floor. And the only room where we really experienced noise was a studio where the musicians could literally perform right under our balcony. The other room we had was a 2br where our balcony was over the General Store, not sticking out in the open....so where we generally were in the room wasn't as close to the action.

That said, I agree with the assessment that if you're reserving through CRO you're most likely to get a pool/canal view. Members tend to book up the standard views and the BW views early (though up until now the BW view has been a request and not a room category).

Ms. WDW...we love those standard views down at the end near the bus stop/tennis courts/ valet parking lot! We had a great one in Jan 2002!

Chances are beyond impossible to get a BoardWalk View unless you are a DVC member who booked on the 1st day possible to book or you fill a hole. Just call the resort directly 5 days prior to arrival and ask to speak to the room assignor and request a QUIET POOL view or garden view if you want quiet.

If you go into the reservation system on disneyworld.com, you get the following under description of room:

>>Studios offer views of a parking area. The studios have one queen sized bed and a double sleeper sofa.....<<

I think they do this to allow themselves maximum flexibility when assigning rooms. If they end up putting the guest in a preferred view, they will be happy to get an upgrade, if they only have a standard view available then they can't complain.
