bwv views for experts

I was told that my reservation is for a pool/garden view. I want to be careful in what I request. I don't want to look at the luna pool as it will be under renovation and don't want to see that. I just want peaceful and somewhat pretty. What does a garden view see exactly? I did request 5th floor no matter what the view though.

You can ask for either quiet pool/Community Hall area or the area overlooking the croquet lawn & Swan/Dolphin Resorts if you don't want the Luna Park pool area. Both are relatively quiet.

In my experience, most of the noise at the BWV comes from the hallways - children running, people talking, etc. The closer you are to the elevators, the noisier the hallway.

I've found the floor requests are difficult at BWV. I always request top floor (part of the building only has 4 floors) and out of probably 10 reservations I only got it twice.

What size room do you have? There are some nice garden view studios facing the Village Green, which is the area on the boardwalk side between the Villas and the Inn.

Yes. That's why I prefer not to have that view. They will be resurfacing the concrete around the pool. We have a 2 bedroom unit. Does anyone think that the end down near the swan is "prettier" than the end near the quiet pool? I definately don't mind the long walk down the hallways. Also, can't you exit down a side door and take the stairs rather than making your way back to the elevators? Who assigns the rooms? member services prior to check in or the front desk clerks who check you in?

The rooms are assigned by the front desk staff. Anytime I have stayed at BWV, the room was already assigned before I got there. One time I got there early (10:00am) and was able to get my assignment changed (they gave me first floor when I requested top floor). I'm not sure how closely they pay attention to requests, it's very hit or miss. Part of the problem is the resort usually has a high occupancy rate and they put you where they happen to have an empty room.

There are stairs throughout the resort (fire escapes). The one on the quiet pool end comes out near the pond. The one on the Jellyrolls end comes out by the canal.

Depends on what you consider "bad." I don't prefer the ground floor rooms near Jellyrolls, but some parents with very young children like not having to worry about a child hanging over a balcony railing and falling. I don't prefer the balconies with a solid wall versus slats but others like them because these balconies are very large and covered (so protection in rain) and provide more privacy. I also don't care for the -051 rooms, which are actually on the corner facing the Village Green, nor the HA rooms. None of these is a deal breaker, but I am always happy when I don't get any of these rooms.

That is why I'd take a BW View over a Preferred View. I'd like a higher floor for BWV (less noisy) and one further away from the boat dock (less noisy) but not above Jellyrolls (noisy). But the views are all good.

I think Standard Views - while lacking the wow factor of the BW - are all pretty consistent. Some have a little better view of high Illuminations, some are a little closer to the ME unload area.

Preferred View rooms are - from what I can tell (we've only had one - overlooking Luna Park on the third floor - IIRC) the most uneven. Some of these views are right next to the Boardwalk View rooms. Some are right next to Standard View - some have lovely views, others look at the backside of the Keister Coaster or are angled toward another room at the Boardwalk. From what I can tell, there pare preferred view rooms that are arguably worse than anything Standard View has to offer.

so here's the big question. I am a MS person at a non Disney resort. I pre-assign all reservations 24 hours before check in. On the day of check in, the front desk staff can change room assignments. If there are 20 people checking in from Interval Int'l with all the same room size, you can flip them around. No one is guaranteed a room number in advance, so who would know. 1st check in usually gets what they want and the last check in gets what's left. So why if you arrive at BW in the morning to attempt a check in and the room you are given is the opposite of what you want, can't they change your assignment? Is it just a pain and they don't want to be bothered?! I think that's the real reason. It's easier just to leave it as is. So maybe the squeaky wheel does get the oil.

They can (not BWV or Standard View from Preferred View, but 2nd floor to 5th floor), and I've seen people throw some fits to make it happen. I won't do that, I'll ask nicely. When I ask nicely I've always been told no. And fits don't always work either - we've had reports (back when there were smoking rooms) of people who couldn't be in a smoking room for health reasons getting one and Disney refusing to move them regardless of the fit.

I found our view of Luna to be very noisy. We were several floors up too. I can't remember exactly how high though, at least third floor.

In all of our experience staying at the different DVC resorts, we found the front desk staff at the BWV to be the least friendly and helpful. They actually have tainted our view of the resort as a whole because they were so difficult to deal with. I'm not even talking about getting a specific room...just getting our room keys to work for starters.

"But you are checking out today, why do you need new keys?"
"Well because we still have dining plan credits for our table service meal that we'd like to use today."
Sigh, rolling of eyes.... "Give me your old cards then."

for us, BW view has been consistant (we've had rooms across from the basketball hoop everytime we have a studio booked , 1bdrm's have been pretty much from one end to the other ~ all excellent with the one right by jellyrools perhaps a tiny bit less perfect).
preferred view has almost always gotten us by luna park (2bdrm, 1bdrm, or studio), very rarely "garden.
the best standard view was the incredible 1bdrm end unit (with the huuuuuuuuuge balcony ); the worst standard was a studio with the balcony literally within a very buggy tree, & no view due to leaves (only time i didn't use my balcony a lot at WDW ).
we always try for BW view now ~ it's an amazing value for the points required, IMHO
