Does anyone know if the village green view classed as garden/poolview or a Boardwalk view?:confused3

So are there no 1 bed villas with a village green view?
Correct. The rooms at the end of the short hallways where the Village Green studios are located are 1 bedrooms (rooms numbered x051) but they are classified as BW view. I think they should be pool/garden like the Village Green studios because they actually are on the corner and do not have a straight-on BW view, but obviously whoever decides this issue disagrees with me. The Village Green rooms require the same number of points as the BW view rooms so they are an option if BW view is completely booked. They are also very close to the elevators, which is important to some folks.

I once got 5051 as a boardwalk view, the first time I booked boardwalk view. It was disappointing not to get the direct water view. Plus the room did not have a balcony off the bedroom, just windows. My mom was with me and was not in good health so I decided not to say anything because it was close to the elevator. That was 2004, I have booked boardwalk views several times since then and have always been directly over the boardwalk.

OP, thanks for asking this question. My DH & I are going in Oct. and have a preferred 1br booked but are on the WL for a BW view. Since this is going to be an r&r trip for us we plan on spending more time at the resort so a nice balcony, etc. is important to us. I will be calling MS prior to arrival to make sure that we are on an upper floor not too far from an elevator. Keeping my fingers crossed for the WL coming through!:)

Keep in mind that it is only a request. It doesn't matter when you call to make your request. Getting it in early doesn't give it priority.

Guess I didn't word that exactly right. As a long time DVC member I know that these things are only requests but if they are not made, then it is the luck of the draw as they say. Since I don't remember exactly what, if any, requests I made at the time I made my reservation, I will call before arrival to check. Appreciate the OP's question and the follow-up from all my fellow Disers for their suggestions.

For our 1st DVC reservation we were actually given the village green view/BWV when we had booked a 1-bedroom garden/pool view. I guess it was an upgrade and we were thrilled to get it. Luckily every other time we have gotten the full on Boardwalk view when booking the BWV catagory.

if I want to be able to see the fireowrks and have a view of the boardwalk what type of room should I request? do all rooms have balconies?

You should book a BW view room. It is not a request, it is a guaranteed booking category. There are some studios that face the Village Green that have a partial BW and fireworks view and they are pool/garden category, but you have no guarantee of getting one if you book pool/garden. BW view rooms book relatively quickly, especially during popular times, so call as close to 11 months out as you can.

I got 5051 (1br) as well in 2007 and I was not pleased, that is definately not my definition of boardwalk view. Now I know and will refuse that stack of rooms if assigned at checkin.

In 2006 we booked a boardwalk view, but switched to room 2051 because we were not happy with the original room. Most rooms on the 2nd floor have solid balconies which you can not see over when sitting down. The cast member indicated 2051 was a village green view, but we did not care once we checked out the room. It is right on the corner and the view was great. Not sure if the view category has changed, but this corner room certainly qualifies as a boardwalk view.
