Hi everyone!
I am renting points at the BWV and have a BW view booked. Is this view really garaunteed? Also, if I have this view will I be far from the elevators? Can I request to be next to the elevators and still have a good BW view and not have an accessible room? I really need the tub for my kids and I have stayed here before and have had a really LONG walk to the room. It isn't the most important thing but, it is some what important to not have too long of a walk to our room. Another question, do these rooms have a full balcony? Should I call and have these requests noted on my ressie? Can I fax them 3 days before like I would for a "regular" resort stay?
Wow, that was alot of questions!!LOL Sorry!

Yes...this is a change as of last year and BW View is a room classification now. You should have a BW View, no problem.
Also, if I have this view will I be far from the elevators? Can I request to be next to the elevators and still have a good BW view and not have an accessible room?
Please don't take this wrong, but I think you're stressing way too much on this. Yes, a BW View can be relatively close to the elevators, or very far away if you're down by the night clubs at the end. If you have a medical need to be near the elevators, you should have your point owner note that on the reservation.

DVC doesn't work that way. They heavily discourage faxes as a waste of time and energy. Supposedly, they work to satisfy requests in order that they received reservations for that check in date. The biggest hurdle you've already cleared...getting the BW View. I'm sure you'll get a great room and enjoy it completely!

Our BWView room was right above Big River Brewery... I think I counted 189 paces from the elevator to the room... it wasnt far.... and we would have walked 10 times as far for that view!

Relax.. enjoy...

We had a BW view last week and we were right above the store. The walk was not too long. There are longer walks to get to the pool view rooms. The one drawback of a BW view is the noise at night. If you are going to bed early, you will hear the ringing bell at the watergun game and people screaming later in the evening. We are not going to request a BW view anymore because of the noise.

Thanks for such fast responses! Also thanks for the tip about the noise. We are up pretty late so I'm not too concerned with the noise.
Please don't confuse my asking questions with me stressing out over distance from the elevators!! I'm not stressing over it. I was just curious. We have stayed here twice before and have had a really long walk both times. I really didn't have a problem with it with the exception of one night. It was late, DS(8mo) was asleep on me in his carrier, DD was asleep in DS stroller. I was by myself(DH has to take the stairs, whole other story)and I was bothered by the walk that night. Not to mention the fact that my "key" didn't work. It took along time to get help and it turned out the lock itself broke! They had to replace the whole thing! I still love the place though!LOL

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know the answer to my question on balcony size?

As far as I know, all BW view rooms have balconies. Their relative size, and whether or not they are open or closed is pretty much a crap shoot.

All are enjoyable and provide a great view.

I just wanted to change something someone said:

The BoardWalk view is guaranteed ONLY IF that is what it says on your confirmation. Someone I work with rented points and told me he got a BW view. When he showed me his confirmation, it said garden/pool view. The rentor had told him wrong. (And YES, this was after the announcement, of the changes so NO, it wasn't because they put him there because of the ressie date.)

Another thing I will comment on is that faxing the resort to make requsts is not just discouraged - it's just doesn't work. They have specifically said they use only the info from MS. This is from the member website:

"Special Room Request Procedure

As a reminder, the established procedure and appropriate time for making special room requests is when you make your reservation with Member Services. If you have any additional requests, or changes to your original request, call Member Services directly. Please do not call or fax the resort where you'll be staying. To be fair to all Members, the only information we use when trying to honor special room requests is that which comes from Member Services".

Probably a poor choice of words on my part. Sometimes I see people looking for very specific areas or even specific room numbers and I cringe a little hoping they're not setting themselves up for disappointment.

I hope you have an awesome trip!:)

As others have said, the villas over the store and BR are not far from the elevators at all. You can certainly request a room close to the elevators when you check in and the CMs will do everything they can to accomendate your request. If there is a villa available close to the elevators, I think you will have no problem. You may have to wait for the room until the afternoon though, since you are requesting a certain location. All DVCs are on a room ready policy (except for view type at BWV, only). If you do not like the room offered you can decline it and wait for a room more to your preferences and then continue to check back during the day to see what is available.
The games and boardwalk activity really end no later than 10 -11 PM. After that time the boardwalk is pretty dead. We have had a boardwalk view villa numerous times and have never been bothered by noise, especially once the balcony door is closed.
Have a wonderful trip!

Desnik, since you are renting points, technically you are not allowed to modify the reservation... so i'm not sure if you can modify room requests through Member Services either.

i suggest you take a look at your 3 concerns (room with bathtub, close to elevators, or large balcony), and put them in order of importance. also did you have a smoking preference too? 'cause that would make it 4 total requests which is a handful, LOL.

AFAIK, the 2nd floor has some larger balconies. but the 2nd floor is also where the smoking rooms are, and i know of at least 1 Accessible Boardwalk View room on that floor.

don't bother faxing BWV. it's discouraged, and they probably won't look at it anyway. just figure out your order of importance, and contact the member you rented from to ask them if they could call MS to put your requests in in exactly that order.

good luck!

Hi,

I'm terribly excited - my family and I are going to be staying at the BWV, in a studio, renting DVC points. I do have a question, though - the only rooms available were 'preferred view'. Can anyone tell me just what this means?

Thanks much,

The BWV are divided into 3 categories - standard view, Preferred -Garden/Pool view and Preferred - Boardwalk view. Unless your confirmation specifically says Boardwalk view on it, you have a Preferred - garden/pool view.

The standard view rooms face the hotel entrance and the driveway leading up to it. They "cost" fewer points than the preferred view rooms.

The Preferred - Boardwalk view rooms overlook the Boardwalk. These rooms cost the same number of points as the Preferred - Garden/Pool rooms.

The Garden/Pool view rooms may overlook Luna Park (feature pool with the slide), the quiet pool/Community Hall area or the Swan/Dolphin hotels and canal.

Standard view and Boardwalk view rooms book up the quickest, so it is not surprising that you have a garden/pool view room.

All three categories have both smoking and non-smoking rooms (although there are not very many smoking rooms), and handicapped accessible rooms.

Enjoy the trip - I'm sure you will like the Boardwalk. The location just cannot be beat!

If you are staying in a BW room--guaranteed--you can't be by the elevators. The preferred rooms right by the elevators are overlooking the village green, which used to be considered BW view, but are now preferred but not BW view. You are going to have to walk a bit from the elevators if you want a BW room. I understand that the BW rooms begin at the end of the first hallway, which isn't long, but it is a walk. Think of it as Disney's effort to get you back into aerobic shape, and you will feel better about it.

A preferred room can be Swan and Dolphin view, pool view, Village Green, canal view, and boardwalk view. There are very few boardwalk view. It will cost extra points to stay in one--nothing is free at WDW, except perhaps the air and aerobic fitness by the end of your stay:p

Four requests is probably too many to have fulfilled. They are working with hundreds of requests, and everyone thinks theirs is the most important. If you prioritize what you MUST have to be happy, you have a better chance of getting it. For example, a BW view will almost certainly get you a room with a tub, since it's farther from the elevators, and if you are in a one bedroom, it's guaranteed, so don't list it. Try not to cloud what your important issues are, and castmembers will try to honor them.
