I just finished watching a walk-through video of a Riviera studio. It had REAL dishes and mugs and silverware. That hasn't been the case in the past for BWV studios, at least not as recently as May, 2022. Am I correct to assume that BWV studios still have the crappy paper plates, cups, and plastic utensils?

Hi Jean!!

Haven‘t stayed in BWV recently, but we have been in a BLT studio, and yes, the crappy things.

Thanks for the info, Bobbi. Had to sell a bunch of points so will be staying in studios more often. I surely do wish that DVC would get rid of disposable eating stuff, for a lot of reasons.

VGF had ceramic mugs in studios pre-covid, paper and plastic for the rest.

I think the new resort studios do and hope those return soon to VGF deluxe studios.

Otherwise, don't know. We only began DVC splits right before covid and bought enough points this year for 1brs every trip in part because I hate those paper bowls, plates and disposable cups.

We just stayed in a 2br in September and the studio had the disposable items. I plan on bringing a regular coffee mu for my studio stays next month

BWV used to have coffee mugs and glasses in the studios. Those days are over unfortunately. We just returned from a BWV studio stay and it’s all paper now.

just back and had 2 ( 2 bedrooms at BWV ) and both studios had paper products. On a side note, the tissues, paper towels and invisible toilet paper in all units are so thin you could see through them.

I believe I saw somewhere that you can request real dishes even in the studios that have paper. But the don't come standard.
Has anyone done this? I'm debating buying 2 bowls, 2 plates etc from walmart vs buying a pack of paper plates /bowls etc. I know I can request more paper from housekeeping, but then there is the waiting and (at least for me) tipping. We will be in a studio for 8 days. It's just the two of us, so not like a tons of dishes to wash.

ETA....just talked to chat, they said you can ask, but no guarantee .

Edited to fix the worst typing skills in the world.

Do they supply you with enough paper plates for your whole stay or just enough for one night and we need to request more each day? Trying to determine if I should add paper plates to my grocery order. Thanks!

We've found only enough for a couple meals for the two of us, occasionally not quite that much.

I'd expect these to be resupplied only if you're staying long enough to get a full service day or call housekeeping to request more.

Trash and towels day is no more than those two things in our experience.

If you go frequently, Owner's Locker might be advisable for stashing real dishes, glasses and flatware.

We drive and hauled a teapot, 2qt. carafe, electric kettle and two sizable mugs for our last studio stay. Made our stay sooooo much more enjoyable being able to make hot or iced tea as desired and keep a supply of the latter in the mini-fridge.

We were at blt studio two weeks ago. They had real mugs in the room and I requested and got two real plates, bowls, glasses. I didn’t ask, but housekeeping also brought two sets of flatware. I was glad to have some real stuff.
