I was taking a look at the satellite images of the BWV and wondering, where are all of the "std view" rooms?

From what I can tell, even those rooms that face the parking lot still have a "water view". Are the Std views only on the "inside" part of the resort facing the driveway? I imagine all the rooms on the left either face a pool, garden, or the river.

If that is the case, I can definately see why there is such a demand for those std view rooms, I imagine their aren't many of them in comparison to the rest of the resort.

Here's some photos from our December '98 trip. We stayed in a Std View Studio this trip (this is also the trip that made us buy into DVC). The first five photos are from the balcony of our unit. There's a couple others scattered through the set.

That's where most of them are but as you can see in the image, those at the end of the building that face the parking lot, pond and the tennis courts are also strandard view. We had one of them once and they are great rooms.

Standard view used to also be the rooms that looked out on the old red DVC sales building that was torn down. Sometimes they will still place over flow in that area.

I am in a std view right now, and we are facing the driveway to the entrance.

Last April we were in a dedicated standard 1 br 3121 far, far, far, from the elevators. This is a room at the very end of the building facing the bridge to the parking lots. There was a terrific balcony from bedroom to living room, and we could see high elements of Illuminations at night. We learned to take the stairs up and down from the end of our hallway and save time, rather than going up to the lobby and elevators. It was very convenient to parking lot, and sort of convenient for walking to MGM.

I just stayed in room 1129 and 1131 with view of pond and bushes with parking lot behind it. Is that a standard view or prefered view? I booked and used points for a prefered view.

It's considered a preferred view.

best wishes -

Just returned from standard one bedroom (3109). We looked directly into two trees and the driveway into the resort (buses). I was so pleased with the room. We played football and soccer down below on the grassy area. I sat on the balcony and caught the morning sun every day. I had a terrific time. First time one bedroom. Felt spoiled. Loved staying at the BW.

I honestly think I would prefer the standard view in the future. I'm sure the BW view is outstanding ( pool view...just not our thing) but I found the standard view so peaceful. We could see the first and last part of Illuminations every night. Nice surprise.

Uh oh, sounds like someone is now spoiled on the 1br, time to kick the studios to the curb, eh?... there's no turning back NOW!!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the info... can't wait to see where we end up... i'm just hoping for an upper-level floor!

Before I really paid attention to what view I was reserving (before I was on the DIS ;) ) I was in a one bedroom, 5002. It looked out onto the walkway to MGM and we could see the Swan/Dolphin and Tower of Terror. Now I am wondering what type of room this was...

We had rm 3133 last Oct. had the longest walk you can get from the elevators. Found a shorter way to the bus stop. Good viev of MGM's fantasmic except for the trees.

That area is kind of "borderline". I got 3002 once as a standard view but that was before they tore down the DVC offices which partially blocked the view. They may now be preferred garden.
