BWV--Standard vs. Preferred??

Dean, I don't know anything about a canal view, but I had a swamp view room that was just awful and it was considered a "preferred" view room. In was in the back towards MGM. I would have preferred a parking lot.
Obviously it's not a perfect division. If one realizes two facts, it's easier to understand. One that the standard view is actually a step down from the rest rather than the others being a step up from standard view, the other that there are only so many of each type of unit.

Boardwalk view is a specific category, so when calling to make reservation, it can be reserved if available. Standard view is a great value if you're wanting to cut corners. We had a 1BR at the far end of the building last year. I was a little nervous about it because we had only stayed in boardwalk views prior to that trip. We LOVED it. It was very close to the bus stop and our car. We have stayed in Boardwalk views twice and loved that also, though. I guess they both have their plusses. To me, I would not pay the extra money for preferred view if boardwalk view is not available, but I'm sure others would disagree.

We had a "preferred view" studio last August...It overlooked the Luna Pool. It was noisy, and I wouldn't have considered it to be "preferred" (very noisy). Our next stay was in a "standard view" 1 bdrm. It was all the way at the end of the building. We had a huge balcony overlooking the main entrance if you looked left and the canal if you looked right. The parking lot was in the distance beyond the trees. It was amazingly quiet and was not a bad view at all. In fact when we wanted to go to the bus stop we went down the end stairs and crossed the road. It was a great location.

So I guess it's all a matter of opinion. I personally have no interest in having a "Boardwalk View" because of the commotion. I would rather look at quiet cars.

What is the "swamp view"? There is a pond that many SV rooms overlook but not sure where the "swamp" is? Can you elaborate, and also indicate how long ago it was?

We were in the very back SW corner, facing MGM, and on the ground floor. There is some type of swampy little canal, but from the room you can't see any water. All you can see is some swampy area and water-type plants. It wasn't a nice view at all.

Thanks for the detail. Not sure how long ago that was, but others have posted that the villa you describe is now used as a SV villa. Sounds like SV is a better classification for it.
