We're booked in a 1brm standard villa at BWV in 10 days time :goodvibes

Our family is myself, DH, DS11 and DS8. I'm tempted to book near the Community Hall as its near the tennis courts (DS8 is tennis mad) and easy access to a pool. I'm just a little concerned about the reports of long, long walks.

Any pros or cons of this strategy? What are the views like from that area?

Thanks in advance

I love BWV and over the years have just (sigh) accepted those long long walks. We always stay in a 1 bedroom villa (4001 preferably) at the top of Crest O The Wave....next to Jelly Rolls. Now I grant you that it is not near the community center, but it is by a staircase that goes straight down to the back and a short hop to the community center. Hmmm I guess you can tell we are 'walkers' :rotfl: This room has an awesome view of the Boardwalk and the nightly fireworks. And it's high enough where you can people watch but not get a lot of Boardwalk noise at night. But again....you have to have that stamina to walk walk walk and do stairs stairs stairs!!

If you have a standard view room you'll be on the opposite side of the bldg from the Community Hall bldg and quiet pool. But, we had a terrific villa, a one bedroom, that was just across the hall from the door to the smoking area and walkway right to the pool area. It was ground level and faced the bus stop, with a door to the walkway to the bus stop just around a corner from our villa. It was a one bedroom villa. Yes, it was a longish walk from the main lobby area, but we didn't use the hallways much since we were so close to the bus stop walkway. DHS was closer since we could just walk out a back door and be on the walkway to DHS.

That room would be classified as boardwalk view.

For a standard view, I would request top floor, across from the bus stop. This gives you a good view of the Epcot fireworks and you could take the steps down to the quiet pool/community hall area and also to the bus stop and parking lot.

Unless you have a physical disability, the long walk is exaggerated. It would be like saying it's too far to walk from the MK gate to the end of Main Street.

We have always had long walks from the elevator, but I don't mind them a bit. If you've walked through (and in some case TO) the parks, what's a few extra yards of hallway? Plus, I've heard stories of noise issues from those whose rooms were too close to the elevators. I'll take the long walk over hallway noise any day!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I like the sound of a view of the illuminations and access to bus stop. We are all healthy and at Disney we tend to walk a lot. We are all looking forward to BWV, we loved BCV last time especially being close enough to walk to Epcot. We had not realised how close it was to walk to HS so no more waiting for boats and buses!

Cannot wait!

Do you know the shortcut to DHS from BWV standard view (or quiet pool view)? Find the stairwell that dumps you out at the quiet pool (if you're at the pool, with your back to Community Hall, look at the right rear corner and find the stairwell door). When you're heading to DHS, take the stairs, cut through the pool, right to the path to DHS. I like this route especially at night, coming back from DHS, because my kids can hit Community Hall, and I can give my feet some jacuzzi time.

If you get super lucky you might score room x123. These are the huge corner rooms with the multiple big balconies. They have a different floorplan from any of the other rooms. Good luck and have a magical trip.

Just note, since I own at both BWV and AKV, that the walk from lobby to end rooms at BWV is really not that bad. Takes about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 minutes normal pace. It is nothing compared to walk from lobby to end rooms in the north wing at AKV Kidani which is over 1/4 mile and takes about 5 minutes.

Sorry, it is a 1 bedroom dedicated.

Hmmm, this is a tempting request but probably a little too specific. I also have a 1 bedroom standard view booked for later this month. Only problem is we are checking in after 1AM and I'm not holding out much hope of getting room requests honored. I asked for top floor and I'll probably just leave it at that.

We never use the elevator, so our first request is always to be away from the elevator. If you can get a room across from the bus stop it's a much shorter walk to get to the Boardwalk outside than through the hallways. I don't like the first floor rooms because I prefer a balcony to a patio, so our second request is always upper floor.

I got 3123 one time, it was awesome. So the next time I requested x123, the only time I ever requested a specific room #. Ended up on the far end near Jellyrolls, this was when the DVC office was still there and it was considered standard view.

How is the floorplan of these rooms different? Are they physically bigger, or is just the balcony bigger? I am waiting on ROFR for a BWV contract right now, hopefully we'll be lucky enough to stay in one of these rooms at some point!

Found this thread. Look at post #19:

Note that there are 3 patios doors in the living room and 1 in the bedroom, and they all lead to the huge balcony. Also note that these are old photos that don't reflect the new refurbishment at BWV.
There are a couple of older threads that used to have photos and a video but the links in those threads are dead.
This same configuration of room is available in 3123 and 4123 and (I think) 2123. There are 2 small annoyances for these rooms: 1) The shower is smaller with no ledge or other place to put shampoo, etc. and 2) The lighting in the kitchen is absolutely awful. The area is much larger than a regular 1 bedroom but the lighting has not been reconfigured to allow for this.

Found these photos of Illuminations from the balcony of 3123. They were taken a few years ago with my not too great camera, but you will get the idea of what the fireworks view is like from the x123 rooms:

We had the best room at BW. I believe it was 4123 and it was huge. It was a corner room with three balconies! One side looked at TOT and from the other end we could catch some of Illuminations.

where is that bridge located that is in the photos?

Thanks

It is the bridge you cross when you leave the BWV guard gate on your way to the front entrance to BWV.

On this photo it is halfway between the red pin and the purple pin:
