Called today for week of July 4th and BCV is booked (studios) so we went with BWV instead. Haven't had the chance to stay at either of them before. BWV fans - what are the perks of this resort? How long is the walk to Epcot from there? How is the pool? What is the best restaurant? Anything else I should know? Oh, also, I am going to be there with my kids, are some rooms noisy due to the Boardwalk nightlife? We are just getting standard view but should I request a location for noise level or close to pool? Thanks for any help!!

I can't wait for the trip no matter which resort it is!!

Just read a few other posts about the rooms at BWV and changed to a garden/pool view room. Boardwalk view isn't available but it seemed like standard view rooms are hit or miss.

If you have a pool/garden studio booked, I would request Village Green view, which is the lawn between the Villas and the Inn on the boardwalk side. They are close to the elevator. Some of the pool/garden views on the quiet pool end or the Jellyrolls end are a long distance from the elevator.

My family of four stayed in a pool/garden view studio for 5 nights this past August (standard view wasn't available). We were over-looking the quiet pool. It was great for the distance to Hollywood Studios, the quiet pool and Community Hall. It was quite a trek to the Boardwalk Bakery in the morning to get coffee! We never make room requests as far as location goes, we're not too picky. But if we stayed here again I would just bring my own coffee to make in the room. I really liked the set-up of the room, it seemed spacious enough for us.

Forgot to add that the main pool was very busy at times, could be difficult to find chairs. We ate at ESPN and Big River (both walk-ups). Both were ok. My daughter had pizza from the pizza window which she enjoyed, and the kids had mozzarella sticks and nachos from the booth on the boardwalk and enjoyed them. The few things we tried from Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast were good, nothing outstanding.

We had our 1st trip to BWV this past August, so yes it was busy. We had a Standard studio...I want to say 4192???4th floor facing the front entry wat, (right where the bldg angles and there are 2 hallways off of the one. Directly across from our door was the staircase leading down to the main pool. Walkway closest to the hot tub.

Perks????

Plenty of them...Roughly a 9 10 minute walk if that to EP, & maybe 15 for HS. Beautiful scenery though and very relaxing so time just goes by ( and b4 you know it you're there ).

Pool.

I personally loved the pool...Best slide ever, for kids...and me too.lol perfect size..Where u can keep your eyes on the kids. Also lots of pool part activities which were entertaining for all.

Boardwalk:

Some of the best entertainment in all of Disney...The Magician's / comediens are some of the best , funniest people I've ever seen.. Also some Midway games which are fun.

Restaurants:

All are good. Kouzzina is very good, but a lil pricey...ESPN is fun & believe it or not has very good food...I loved BRGRILLE but my wife didn't. ( Shes not a meat eater:confused3) Bakery has everything that u need . Pizza window was OK!
Epcot being sooo close can fill the bill, with just a short walk away..

Have a great time!!!

You have access to dining and visiting nearby resorts - Beach and Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin Resort.

If you have a standard view room - you got very lucky - these are the best deals at Disney (IMHO). Low points for a great location. You'll overlook the drive - but there is a lot of distance between the hotel and the drive for most of the rooms.

High floor further down tend to have better views and less noise - often views are blocked by trees, but if you get lucky, you may see some Illuminations fireworks from a high floor at the end standard view room. HOWEVER, they are the least convenient - especially if you can't take stairs (bad knees, strollers, out of shape, little kids). Low floor and closer to the lobby tends to be much more convenient (the pool is off level 1, the lobby is off level 2 - so you have stairs or elevators at this resort pretty much all the time - and the only elevators are off the lobby.) For kids about to grow gills - first floor halfway down is right across the hall from the doors to the pools. Not a great view - but when my kids were at that age, it was the best room ever.

Walk to Epcot is five minutes or so - its farther to the Studios.

Pool - the theme pool has one of the best slides (unless you have a clown phobia) - no zero entry. There is also a community pool (no zero entry) and a really nice and usually very quiet pool over on the hotel side.

Best restaurant - Flying Fish. But it might not be what you want to do with kids.

Boardwalk view rooms can be noisy - standard view rooms near the lobby get arrival/departure and luggage noise, but no Boardwalk noise. Preferred View rooms tend to be quieter in general. The whole Boardwalk is noisier though - you can hear Epcot fireworks. There is a lot of bustle. Kids run down the interior hallways with excited voices (and their parents calling after them "be quiet - babies are napping!" - hey, they are trying :))

Thank you all so much for the replies! We have put in a Village Green request hoping to be somewhat quiet (doesn't need to be real quiet - we DO have kids! :)) and near elevator. The restaurants sound great and of course being near EPCOT we will never be searching for a good meal. My only concern is the lack of a counter service breakfast but maybe the Boardwalk Bakery will make up for that. I am now getting very excited about BWV, I am always up for trying something new. I want to stay at all of the DVC resorts at least once, so now I just need July to get here quick!!

Skip any quick service in the am worries by getting pastries to go from the France pavillion the night before. Between the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, there's no reason to head out the door until everyone is fed, watered (and dressed.) If you're driving down, you can stop by a local grocery and get some fruit, milk, and cereal to round out your options.

One of the great plusses of my first BWV stay in October was the short walk from France to my room (1st floor standard view studio - I would happily accept that room for all future stays). I'm sure I looked a little odd trying to keep my cheese plate dry as I speed-walked through the sudden down-pour, but having that yummy brie on baguette with a glass of red wine was a great vacation treat later when my feet refused to leave the room.
