After much thought, DH and I are ready to become members so our children and their loved ones may continue to enjoy the magic. We are debating BCV vs. BWV on the resale market. Questions: Is Disney exercising ROFR at BCV in the 160 point range? Our dear friends own at SSR; would they be able to visit us at Stormalong Bay? Since we always visit over July 4th, at the 11 month window would we have problems booking a 2-bedroom at BCV? We have stayed at BWV and loved it. The location of BCV being that much closer to Epcot has me looking at BCV closely. Thanks so much for your help.:teacher:

Disney's ROFR activity over the past 18 months has been very limited but mostly with BCV. I have seen contracts pass ROFR for that resort for the same price, if not less, than one that was taken. So, I don't think there is any way to know for sure what is up with Disney.

I just saw one yesterday that passed at $80/ppt. In terms of the pool, only DVC members staying at BCV get to use SAB, regardless of whether you own there. So, if your friends are staying at BCV, yes, they can use it. If you are staying there and your friends are at SSR, no, they can not join you. There is no pool hopping to SAB, BLT, or AKV for DVC members.

We just bought BWV and got it for $55/pt. Was worth it to save close to $30/pt over BCV--plus, I like that BWV has options in terms of a view. If we need to save points, we can book SV and if we want a great view, we will book BW view.

Good luck!

many have said that they exercising ROFR on BCV more based on price, not points. 160 is not a large amount, which is where you tend to see lower prices.
btw, the BCVS are not that much closer to EPCOT than the BWVs (maybe 1 to 3 minute or so difference, depending where your room is located at each resort). only registered guests at the BCV/BC/YC can use stormalong bay - each is issued a wristband for entry, no visitors.
just a suggestion.: try to stay at the BCV before purchasing. we bought BCV sight unseen b/c we owned and loved BWVs so much. unfortunately, we found we did not care for the BCVs - too noisy, overly crowded pool, no decent views, no community hall......just not as much to do and see. many love the BCV, and you might be one, but it is a big purchase, one you don't want to regret :)

Not 100% sure, but I do not think you will be able to invite your friends to join you at Stormalong Bay.

Thank you. You bring up some good points. We stayed at YC a few years ago and found the pool crowded, but thought it was perhaps the time of year. Perhaps it is always that way.

As a BWV owner...I just want to say that we  BWV!

Don't forget that BWV also have standard points.

The standard views at BWV are just as good or better than views at BCV, and opens up a lot more flexibility. For instance, we wanted to go in September and turn around and go in April. No problem...we are staying standard now and Boardwalk view for our 20th anniversary in April.

Oh...and did I mention that Boardwalk View...amazing!!!

Here is another thought...as someone who is a bit of a chubb...and has plantars fascitis...after a long week of standing and walking...you can take the BOAT to Epcot. It doesn't make ANY sense to take the boat from BCV to Epcot, ever. We try to determine if the boat is in eye shot, where it is going, and the length of the line to get on the boat. i.e., if we don't see a boat coming, or see it pulling away...or nobody is at the dock...we walk.

OK...now to be fair...

I really loved parking at BCV, and think it would be a real pill to go out in the rain to get breakfast from the BW Bakery. Luckily we've never had to do that.

For us, the lower cost AND standard points made buying BWV a no brainer.

If your friends own at SSR and you are staying at BCV on your points, you both could pool hop to another pool together as long as pool hopping wasn't blacked out for the time frame you were there. But they could not join you at BCV. And if you were at BLT or AKV, they couldn't join you there either.

The location of BCV being that much closer to Epcot has me looking at BCV closely.

But DHS is then that much farther away. To me, BWV is an easy walk to EPCOT or DHS. BCV is a really easy walk to EPCOT, and a significantly farther walk to DHS. Walking for either would be faster than the boats.

Thank you everyone. The Dis is an amazing community. My DDs desire BWV since we have stayed there and the standard view we had was amazing. DH is also a BWV fan. The time to purchase is right!
