What are the pullout couches like at BWV? ARe they comfortable? We are going with Mom and MIL in a two bedroom and we are thinking we will have to give up the king for one of them. After all, wouldn't that be rude to make one of them stay in the pullout in the studio (kids will be in the pullout in living room area)? Unless, it was extremely comfortable and just like a normal bed - then we wouldn't feel so guilty. Also, between us and the two kids we were hoping to have that king bathroom to ourselves - and figured they would like the privacy of their own bathroom and kitchenette. ANd yes, Mom and MIL do get along good!! LOL

I can't answer this one from personal experience, but our guests say the pull out sofa (at OKW living room) is just fine. What I might suggest is that they switch beds half way through the trip so one doesn't have the pull out the whole time. It is easy to wash sheets while you are at the parks.

The 1st time we stayed at BWV, me and my wife gave the master bedroom up and also the 2nd bedroom and stayed on the pullout. It was the worst bed I have ever slept on. From that trip we vowed to only take one other couple and never give up the master bedroom again.

Our DVC guide told us what he does for his two teenagers, one boy and one girl. They open the pull-out and take the mattress off, then place it directly on the floor. Then they put the sofa back to normal. His son lies on the mattress on the floor and his daughter lies on the couch. No more arguing and no "bar-in-the-back" issues. He said it only takes a minute to do and another minute to put back together. HTH

Oh dear, it sounds more and more like DH and I will have to be taking that couch! I can't possibly stick my mother or MIL on it - it sounds horrendous!! Or should I just claim ignorance when they sleep on it and complain? LOL Just kidding.

Take the King yourself and they can rotate the pull out if need be. You could also see if you can change to VWL, OKW or BCV which have some (or all with OKW) of the second BR with 2 queens. For one person they're really not that bad.

My DS sleeps on it all the time. He's 20 and about 180 pounds. In addition, he usually takes a buddy on our trips and several times the 2 of them have shared the living room pullout. That's 2 of them at about 180 pounds each. They say it's fine.

Comfort level may depend somewhat on the weight of the sleeper?

I've had guests sleep on the couch during several trips. They were fine. :)

We stayed in a 2 bedroom at BWV in August. Our group had 3 adults and 4 kids. The 3 older kids complained about the pullout in the studio and in the living room area of the 1 BR side. They are girls and weigh 100-120 lbs. I could feel the bar in the middle when I took a test run on the living room bed (let's just say I weigh 225+ lb.). For next year, I'll go over to Super K-Mart and buy the $20 heavy cardboard "bed stiffener" backboard. We use these on our pull-out at home and it works wonders on spreading the load and making the pull-out more comfortable.

As far as the king bath, only the jacuzzi tub and sink are part of the bedroom area. The shower, toilet, and a second sink are accessible from the dining/living area and lock off the bedroom by a dividing door. It's not the privacy of the OKW baths that exclude the extra door.

Well, thanks everyone. If you are at one of the resorts that have two queens in the second bedrooms, can you request that? We have already stayed and OKW (and loved it), but wanted to try something new. I wouldn't want to switch and then still have a pullout. Plus, I am renting points from someone who is reserving them for me to book in Jan. for next Dec. So, It looks like DH and I will be sleeping on that pullout :(

If you request a 2 queen bed "2br" at BCV, and it's available, it's a room type (not just a request), so you should get it. Similarly, if you go to VWL and get a dedicated 2br (NOT a lock-off) you will get the 2 queen beds.

Alternatively.... Do MIL and Mom like each other enough to SHARE the queen? Or what if they shared the king, and you and dh took the queen in the 2nd br? I would think that for the amenities of the master suite, they could learn to share a whopping king! Besides... one person in a king is just a waste, when you have so many folks suffering the wrath of sleeper sofas! ;)

We are staying at BWV for 8 nights and BCV or SSR for 4 next summer, and I'm a bit worried about those sleeper sofas myself. We've never used them before, but this year we will need to. HOWEVER -- we are just putting our lightweight, deep-sleeping kids (ages 5 to 9) on ours. Our kids love to use sleeping bags too, so if push came to shove, we could always just put their sheets and blankets on the floor and they would think "COOL! We're camping!" We have a sleeper sofa at home but it is a pretty high end version amongst sleeper sofas. I find it comfy for a night, tiresome for anything more than that. I mainly hate setting it up, taking it down -- how it feels actually is a bit secondary to that!

While I'm at BWV and BCV next summer, I may just "test out" the sleeper sofas for future reference. I'm of moderate mass (about 150) and ht (5'8") and pickiness, so I'd be somewhere in the average! FWIW, my teenage nieces have used the sofa bed in the living room at OKW many times and say it's great.... I do not know, however, if all sofas are created equally at all DVC resorts. Would need to know the "grade" of the sofa and mattress -- they do come in differing quality levels.

We have had a friend who has travelled with us numerous times to all of the DVC resorts(except VWL)and slept on the pullout in each of them and had no problem. This person is not what I would consider to be petite, and she said the pullout was quite comfortable.
