BWV - parking

There's a parking lot across the street...if the resort is on your left, there's a parking lot on the right, but doesn't it also have a gate?

yes it has a gate. don't know why.

might be to kept people from running that stop light. some CM parked here - I wonder if this will stop them? - the cast parking is further down.

So, if you pull up, the gate automatically opens? Is this what jarestal referred to as visitor's parking lot?

yes madam!!! it works just fine.;)

when I am not staying at BWV and want to visit BW - this is where I park.

We just returned and had the same experience as Happy Birthday Cat. It was so much easier to find a place to park this year than in the past.

I just returned from my stay at BWV. I wanted to mention that the parking lot is closed starting on Friday morning and remain closed until 8:30PM on Sunday evening. You can go around the lot (pass the bus stop) and there is a guard there. You have to show your room ID and BW parking pass to get in. No others are allowed to park there. I thought this was wonderful. It was the first time we have stayed at the BWV and was able to find parking in the evenings. During the week it was never a problem. The lot was open Monday to Thursday. It was interesting watching the long stream of cars making U turns out of the lot starting on Fridays. Most had figured out that you had to park in the self parking (behind Hess). CMs were not allowed to park there either.

If you look at the picture of BW provided above, the two lots to your left side of Epcot Resort Blvd make up the main BW parking that you get to through the main gate. One of those (lower left) is used for valet parking. The one on the right side of Epcot Blvd is the visitors lot with no blocking gate (it lets you in). Over the last few years they have done turnaways at the main gate but it usually depended on time of day -- they generally blocked visitors from coming in during the morning when nothing on the BW is really open and most such visitors would usually being looking for a place to park free and get into Epcot. This weekend blockage is obviously something new.

Yes, the Boardwalk has been doing this for the weekends only since Food and Wine Festival. I recently stayed with my mother at SSR over 3 weeknights. She wanted to visit the BW and had no problem being let in on Monday. The parking lot was quite empty actually.

During the weekends, it is very necessary to have BW resort guests only park there because of the mass amounts of people who park at the Boardwalk to go over to Epcot. I don't know how it is at Y&B, but the overflow/visitor parking across the street from the Boardwalk can be COMPLETELY full. I have literally been there when there were no available parking spaces whatsoever.

And this is indeed the one and only Boardwalk cast member parking lot. The only cast member lots that are further down are the ones for Y&B. ;)

Can someone clarify for me...

If I have dinner at Flying Fish, can I park in the main lot, or do I need to park across the street?

Thanks!

It depends on what day. When we parked there during the weekend we had to show our BWV parking pass and room ID and was told only BW residents could park in the main lot during the weekend. There is a smaller lot near valet, but the guard was turning people around everytime we were coming through the guard crossing. Maybe the smaller lot was full. I would ask, but be prepared that you may be directed to the self parking area near the Hess station. There were tons of folks walking from the satellite lot on Friday evening when we were leaving the main parking lot.

Thanks n2mm! I'll keep that in mind when planning transportation.
