BWV lover's comments on Kidani

You will be missing out if you don't actually go down and enjoy Sanaa in the restaurant. LOVE the decor and the animal viewing from there.

Believe me, I would love to actually sit down there! DH is not adventurous (loves Boma breakfast, but not dinner) so room service is the closest I'll get this time around. Do you know if they do a Sanaa culinary tour like Boma does?

Jean....... I loved reading your comments about Kidani and it sounded almost exactly what I wrote in my trip reports over on mouse-aid.org.

We too are owners at BWV and it is our favorite resort by far, but we are walkers and love the idea of walking to two parks.

But I can't help the wonderful feeling we got while staying at Kidani last January. We didn't have a car but we thought the bus service was excellent.

Thanks for giving so much informaton so freely.

I love to walk to Epcot and DHS also and DH loves ECVing to those parks. That is why I am having a hard time getting him to try Kidani. He hates taking buses with the scooter. But I am a pretty determined old gal, and I think he would love Kidani if he would just give it a try. We always rent a minivan so I can just drive him to the parks (except MK) from Kidani. I predict that he will finally relent just to satisfy me. I just can't get over the fact that I loved Kidani so much when I also love the activity of the BW.

Thanks for a great post and a wonderful trip report. While I always suspected I'd like AKV - either Jambo or Kidani - I never thought I would fall in love with it the way I did. It's strange how it pulls at you and you find yourself yearning to go back. Last trip we tries Boma and Jika (DH is not that adventurous when it comes to food) and he really liked it. Next time: Sanaa. I can't wait.

You don't have to be adventurous to eat at Sanaa. If he doesn't like curry, it is possible to find things without it, and the chef is wonderful at making things for those of us who have food allergies. It's one of the things I love best about it. I wont eat at Boma, because there isn't much choice there for those of us with a sensitivity to curry. Jiko is no problem at all. It's kind of a normal nice restaurant.

I too am a BWV lover and have been hesitant to try this resort. Your glowing review may change my mind now!

Oh, I so hope you can convince him! We own at BWV, but I love Kidani just as much! It is definitely an experience that he needs to try at least once!

Thanks for your review! We love BWV too, but are giving Kidani a try for two nights after our cruise. We have always hesitated to stay at AKV/L for fear of feeling too isolated. But we figure for two nights, we will give it a try. Glad to hear good things about it!

Several of you have mentioned that it's great to have a car at Kidani.

So...can you park close to your room, or is it a long hike to get to your car?

Thanks!

There is an underground ramp and there are several elevators from the ramp to the rooms. Just figure out which elevator is closest to your room and park near that elevator.

Thank you, Jean! That sounds perfect.

...now if I can just get the rest of my reservation to come thru...

Loved your trip report! We've stayed Jambo House but this will be our first time at Kidani. Glad to see a BWV lover can enjoy Kidani...DHs fav is BWV and is bummed DD picked Kidani for her graduation trip. I may have to do Sanaa room service our first night. The trios looked wonderful!

YOU MUST do sanaa at dinner opening. They do this drum thing for opening and it gets you a table by the window to view the animals when you eat.

PLUS a little known fact. you can get sanaa bread service at the bar anytime without needing a reservation. who needs counter service when you can have sanaa bread service with south african wine or beer.

Hi Jean! We just got back late Tuesday night from our first visit to Kidani - as we stood on our balcony the first evening, my husband just shook his head smiling and said "It's so PEACEFUL here!" I had only requested an upper floor on Sunset Savannah, and our room couldn't have been more amazing! We were in 7908, just steps from the elevator, and right beside the lobby - it only took a couple of minutes to go refill our mugs or get to the pool. The view was extra awesome being able to see Wishes and Illuminations every night! Since we didn't have park passes, it was wonderful to have our car so close and out of the sun to go wherever we liked for dinner - love that underground parking! And I have so many pictures of all of the art and proverbs from around the resort. We want to go back for our 25th next year and stay in the one bedroom. I never thought I could drag DH away from OKW, but he said Kidani is his new favorite, and I have to agree!

:) We love Kidani too. We are headed for our first Value studio at Jambo in Oct (we needed to save points for our May trip). I am so glad you had a good time and Happy Birthday.

Glad you both loved Kidani. I am wait listed for our Oct. trip but I think it is highly unlikely. Maybe i will try for our spring trip right at 7 months. I can't wait to go back there!

Thanks! Today is my REAL birthday. My trip had to be early in order to get 5 nights in a row at Kidani on short notice.

DH and I love Kidani too but I wouldn't give up BWV during F&W for Kidani. We spend so much time at Epcot during F&W and appreciate the convenience of being right next door during our stay.

Happy Birthday! and good luck with whatever you decide to do for your October trip!

We love to go to the bar at Sanaa for the bread service and African wine flights!!!!!

If you're around AKL on Wednesdays be sure to book the wine and cheese tasting at Jiko. Every wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00 for some FANTASTIC South African wines.
