We will be going home to the BWV next month for a 10 day visit, and just received a note in the mail that the Keister Coaster will close from October 3-29. During that time the Luna pool will remain open. They will be allowing guests to hop to the Stormalong Bay pool during the month for the inconvenience of the slide closing.

First time poster here and am so disappointed by this news. We're staying at BWV Oct 5-12 and this is the first I've heard of the slide closing. When did you receive the letter? Would this information have been available when we booked last winter? Any info you can share is appreciated.

patsfan: Welcome to the Dis Boards.

Last year when the slide was closed at SAB, they allowed guests of the Beach Club to go over and use the slide at the BWV. Maybe you should request to be allowed to go over to the BCV. Maybe they plan on allowing it anyway.

Gee, we are scheduled to arrive on Oct. 12...this is the first i have heard of this......on our first visit home to the BWV, with 5 G-kids the pool was closed for refrubishment and we were allowed to go over to SAB.....they opened the pool at the BWV just a day before we left......

I got a letter in the mail on Friday stating that the slide at BWV would be closed from October 6 - 29 and that during that time, BWV guests could use SAB. It even said that transportation would be provided. I am actually very excited about the chance to check out SAB when it's warm enough to swim. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

We haven't received a letter yet, but will be at BWV from Oct. 19 thorugh Oct. 25. If we can pool hop to SAB, I'll probably take advantage, although I don't normally pool hop. A rare opportunity to try out SAB without staying at the BCV.

For me and my DH, that's good news! We own at BCV and love spending 2 or 3 entire days each trip at SAB. We booked our October trip too late and couldn't get in at BCV so we booked at BWV since we love the Epcot Resort area and will be going to F&W Festival. I was already worried though about missing SAB and now I won't have to at least for part of our trip! We'll be there 10-26 to 10-31. Luna Park pool is okay but it's just not SAB! Hooray!!!!

I am shocked-SHOCKED- that SAB can handle the extra poolhoppers at that time of year..for an entire MONTH?!!? I never would have thought it possible given that they had to stop poolhopping year round....;) :)

Well I'm bummed. My DD12 and I are doing a short 3day trip and she was looking forward to daily pool time. We are staying at our beloved BWV and she likes the slide a lot, but now we have to decide if we have the time to pool hop, or just skip the sliding. With only have 3 days, time is precious. We were just at BCV this summer and were looking forward to Kesiter. I guess the good news is that the pool will be less crowded, although I wasn't really worried about that, LOL.

We'll be in Disney and need to count our blessings.

We just our letter yesterday. I am really disappointed that this is the first we are hearing about it! I would have booked at BCV as it was available when making my reservations. This is the 2nd time in a row going to BWV and having a pool issue. On our last trip, 9/01, the pool was closed for the first few days. It re-opened but it was not done right. Paint was peeling off in the pool I think cause it did not dry properly.
They didn't JUST decide to do this and we should have been told when they did decide.

We (BWVers)also were not informed of this closing. This doesn't matter to us(the slide closing) but with letting BWV people use SAB in this time frame is crazy. From Oct 18 to OCT 29 you have the Food and Wine festival going on and also the golf tournament from Oct 20 to OCT 26 . I would think there would be a considerable crowd at this time staying at the Epcot resorts. Doesn't look like very good planning on their part. I wonder how many problems will occur with over crowding at SAB at this time. I guess if you want a lounge chair you better get in line at the pool gate by 8am(just kidding) but you never know.I also think the pool hours should be extending for this time period.

Anyway this could be very interesting

I really would not worry about SAB overcrowding at this time of year...I was kidding...I have been to SAB on that exact weekend with the golf tourney, F&W etc and it was not crowded at all...the attendence at the busiest time of this non-busy time of year is 2/3 of the summer numbers...this has been a beef of mine for a long time about the year round closure of SAB--I have always maintained that it was not necessary probably for all of Sept/Oct, most of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb...and I have been criticized on this board for daring to suggest that perhaps part of the motivation of closing SAB to poolhopping year-round was to help BCV sales... Please report back to us about how crowded the SAB is.

We received our letter yesterday. We are not big pool people so it wasn't really an issue to us, but I can certainly see it being for others. I was pleasantly surprised, however, that they are allowing hopping to SAB.

We are going to be at BWV on October 19. We received our letter yesterday and we were actually pretty impressed that they let us know ahead and that shuttle transportation would be available to SAB. No complaints from us -- we see it as a great chance to use SAB.

I was actually excited. My kids are too little for the Keister Coaster and will like the zero depth pool at SAB. I thought about switching ressies, but BWV is our home resort and this is our first trip home - so we really wanted to stay there.

So I'll have the best of both worlds. Stay at my home resort, access to SAB.

And who knows how far out they had this planned. Its possible a crew freed up early or won't be able to get started on something else as soon as planned and they just decided to get started on this now.

Well I am extremely disappointed!! We were booked at the Yacht Club for last January and 3 weeks before arrival we received a letter stating that the slide at SAB was to be refurbished. We were disappointed, so we switched to BWI. It was too chilly for my blood to swim that trip so we never got to try out the Keiser Coaster. We were really looking forward to trying it this trip. We will be at BWV Oct 19 - 27.

I could care less about hopping to SAB, as we just took a quick trip there last month. Oh well, at least the pool will still be open.

What kind of construction can we expect??? Lots of workers around the pool area? Yuck.

I also think that Disney could give us more notice than this.:(

PKS44, I guess we weren't wrong afterall on that thread way back when.

Disney say's they are going to provide transportation from BWV to SAB...... Are they talking about the boat that has always run between the two resorts ? Or did they add a special transport just for DVC members that want to get to SAB ?

Well, if anyone here happens to wonder over to SAB to take a dip, let us know if its too crowded. Of course, I already know the answer.

When BWV guests are allowed to use SAB they provide a separate boat. It leaves from the same dock as the Friendship launches, but is much smaller/faster.

We, too, will be at BWV (next week!) but are thrilled to be able to use SAB.

I don't think this is just for DVC----Keister Coaster serves the entire BWV/BWI resort so there is a very large number of potential guests...I think it is great that they provide the extra transportation and the use of SAB. I will be very interested to hear about crowds from this....DeeP has a thread posted about a recent BCV stay and says SAB was never crowded the whole time.
