Anyone been to the BWV since April 20? There is a thread on the Disney Resorts forum that is about Bedbugs at the BWV. I would really love to hear from anyone that has stayed there recently and what their experience was.

we were there on April/24 to 30 and had no problems

I was there from April 9th-16th and had no problems at all!

bring ours with us as we prefer not to use those belonging to others

We were there April 28-May 2. Our carpets were still damp from a recent shampooing so we felt secure.

We were there thru 4/7, and had no problems. By the way, Gracey, bedbugs bite your body, not your head. You are thinking of lice, which make your head itch, but they can live for short periods of time in bedding, too. As a teacher, I regret having to say that I know a lot about lice, or as my students call them, "lights"

Soon you will be able to Google "Disney urban legends" and find this incorrect information.

Sorry but I don't think this is an urban legend. There may well have been a ROOM at the BWV infested, but not "the whole resort." I have been researching these little guys, and they are currently a real problem at hotels across the country. Florida in particular is battling them because the climate is warm, travelers come from all over the world, and US laws limit the toxicity of pesticides. These little guys (about the size and color of an apple seed) are great hitch-hikers and are not linked to any lack of cleanliness. They just show up and "do their thing," which involves night feeding on blood. :(

From now on, when we get to ANY hotel, I will peel back the bedding and briefly check the mattress for any reddish-brown rusty "skidmarks" the bugs leave behind. Then (based on other Board horror tales) I will wipe the remote with an antibacterial wipe, and spray the rarely-washed bedspread with fabric disinfectant spray. Then I'll get on with my vacation! :)

We were there last week and had a wonderful time with no problems at all.::MickeyMo

Colleen: I don't disagree with you on the little critters being an issue but the legend being created is that the BWV alone has bedbugs. If someone said "is it true that Flordia has lots of insects and they get in the hotel rooms from time to time", I would agree completely. But for this often repeated rumor to be stated over and over about one particular place is the stuff that urban legends are made of. As with most urban legends, they contain a grain of truth and are repeated enough times so that they become truth.

Isn't it enought that we are plagued by long hallways, small kitchens and a hotel like atmosphere....but now this too?;)

Not too worried about bedbugs. If you remember the recent post, I think the lizard jumping out of the laundry machine is a more real concern.:bounce:

I haven't heard anyone say that only BWV has this problem. I think BWV is getting the attention on the DISBoards because BWV is the only Disney resort where someone ran into this problem. I've only heard of one family running into this at BWV, luckily.

I've been worrying about the bedspreads, too. Has anyone tried popping the DVC bedspreads into the washer? Do they hold up to washing?

I like to avoid disinfectant sprays, and I doubt they'd really penetrate a bedspread, anyway.

 :hyper: :hyper: Hmmmmm. I think I will add bedbugs to the list of reasons why BWV is not a good place to stay. ::yes:: I can bring it up again right before I need to make my next "hard to get" standard view or Boardwalk view reservation and thereby decrease the competiton. ::yes::   :teeth: :hyper:

Ok. Let's review the list.

Bedbugs.
Exeptionally looooooooooong hallways.
Looong walks to parking.
Scary Clown slide.
Noisy.
Bad views if you don't get Boardwalk view.
Teeeny, tiny rooms.
Bad housekeeping.
Self - Parking lots always full.
Nasty, rude CMs
Long waits for the bus. Crowded buses. Poor bus service.

There must be more! Please! Somebody help me out! :teeth: :teeth: :hyper:

How about very, very noisy Boardwalk rooms and noisy by the elevator.

Actually the lizard jumping out of the washing machine was probably the one from the Geico commercials on vacation. I love this guy.
