We are leaving this weekend to stay in a BWV gv for the first time!! :goodvibes

Some of us are driving and I usually bring paper and plastic cups, plates, etc. even when I stay in the villas.
Do you think this is necessary? I just like to know that it is "clean". If we use any dishes or cookware, I usually wash them.

What do you do?

Also, how is the coffee maker? Would you bring your own? (not a Keurig - we don't own one)

We run any dishes that we intend to use through the dishwasher before we use them.

Same here. I load up the dishwasher and run it as soon as we get in the room.

The coffee maker is a Mr. Coffee or similar, capable of up to 10 to 12 cups that takes a flat bottom filter. You don't need to bring your own unless you insist on having a Keurig.

Thanks! Running the dishwasher sounds like a good idea. I'll probably also bring some paper/plastic for the first day at least.

Mr. Coffee will have to do!

So excited!!

We just use what's on the shelves, without so much as a wipe down first. We've not contracted dysentery yet.

You haven't seen the movie Contagion, have you. :goodvibes

Disney hosts millions of guests from all over the world and you never know what may be on the dishes or left in the room. We wash the dishes and do a quick wipe down of touch items. It may be a coincidence but since we began doing this we seem to come home with fewer colds and flus.

I changed my habits after a poster stated that they were still going to WDW taking their child with the flu. They weren't going to give up their vacation just because someone was sick. About the same time our Dr started requiring that patents during flu season wear masks in the waiting room.

Same here, and I'm a bit too "green" to use paper and plastic if the real thing is available.

I don't either, I like to live on the wild side. I look at them to see if they are dirty. I just assume that housekeeping ran them through the dishwasher. Don't wipe down the door knobs, remote, etc. Never got sick at WDW.

What do people do who eat in restaurants? How do you know that the plate is clean?

The beauty of a 1br, 2br and better yet a GV, is the ability to arrive with ones toothbrush and be ready to go! If I have to bring it all with me from home, it's called camping and I'm staying home!

P.S. I look at the dishes and glass ware, if its dirty I either wash it or stick it in the dishwasher! To date, since 2000, 30+ trips, one dirty glass but hey it happens at home too!

There are uncountable surfaces touched by guests all over the hotels, in the parks, etc. etc. I don't think it is possible to get even a small fraction of them sanitized. It's no skin off my nose if you try, but I just don't think it is worth doing personally. We have not been the worse for wear.
