The last 3 trips we've been put on the ground floor of the BWV. Now it's very convenient for coming and going but dang I love and use a balcony when we have one.
Not sure why we keep getting the ground floor rooms and I'm hoping that in our room request for next Jan I wrote that we'd like a room with a balcony.

Would you rather have a balcony or a ground floor room?
(just wondering how picky I'm being here. LOL)

I am with you. I like a balcony. If I were you I would word the request "NOT groundfloor." Some room assigner might consider a balcony and a patio as being the same thing. Good luck. You deserve a break from ground floor rooms.

While we have more than enough points to afford a premium villa --We actually prefer the standard view ground floor rooms that no one wants.
We think the rooms are in better condition because everyone wants those premium views. Although we all know that the Boardwalk is a premium location/great views and is sometimes hard to get if youre not an owner. We actually had a standard ground floor 1 bedroom villa a BLT in Feb which we liked also.
Go ahead everyone request a balconey--we will take a ground floor unit!!!

We are also ground floor people. We had 1027 back in March an loved it. On an end right around the corner from the Clown pool. Easy walking access to DHS, the Boardwalk, the Beach Club, and Epcot. We spend so little time in our room that I am all about convenience.

Actually standard views are usually the ones that go first, people want to save points.

I always request "top floor". Rarely get it, usually get 3 or 4.

Ya we used to "save" points but now always have too many.
It's funny back in 98 when we joined a studio would be great now we almost always get a 1 bedroom--I sort of miss those days when it was just me and Dan--but that's ok -family memories.

Thanks for the room request tip Jean...yeah, we're a bit tired of those ground floor rooms. Wouldn't be an issue if we didn't actually use the balcony but we do! LOL

I don't think the rooms cost more the higher up they are. We ONLY get standard rooms and have been located on various floors through the years. We don't have a need for more space and I do try to conserve my points as much as possible so a Boardwalk view is also not something we *require* or request. LOL We're very simple in what we want but I think we don't want to be in the basement anymore. Not for a few trips anyway. LOL

Also we didn't find the rooms to be in any better condition....as a matter of fact there seemed to be more dampness, just as you might expect in the lowest floor of any building.

we used to have this dilemma. while I like a balcony, a ground floor was much more convenient to get to a DSA.

almost 3 months now, hubby and I quit smoking!!!:thumbsup2:banana:

I am SO proud of us!!

so now, we would prefer a higher up floor!!! we can actually enjoy a cocktail or coffee on the balcony without needing to run down for a smoke!!

I liked our standard view ground floor room because it made it so easy to get to the pool. But I don't think I'd want it every trip.

We got a ground floor room standard 1 bedroom on our last trip to BWV in January. We HATED it! We don't like being on the ground floor. At my house we have all the bedrooms on the 2nd floor - just don't like sleeping where someone can *potentially* look in the window at you. I sit on the balcony every night and the ground floor just didn't cut it.

We are staying at AKV in a standard view in a couple weeks and I believe there aren't any ground floor rooms I need to worry about!

I like the ground floor. We don't make requests for rooms at BWV, but we almost always book std view--we've been assigned ground floor about 3 times.

We always request away from elevator and upper floor. One year out of 10 we ended up on the ground floor, and I did not like it as much. I like having my coffee out on the balcony with the feeling of privacy that gives. Also wasn't too keen on having the shrubbery trimmed right outside out bedroom window one morning....next time I will pay to move, since our trips are typically 9-10 days, and that's too long to not have the type of room you want.

Both my DS and I prefer ground floor rooms...and always request them, and get them less than half the time. It's not all that big a deal...our preference is based on the easy in-and-out, especially if one of us is just running over to get a drink or a snack or have a dip in the pool and the other is "staying in"--that way we can exit/enter thru the patio which generally is closer than going thru the hallway (regardless of resort)...

Based on our failure to get the request more often than not, I'd guess more people prefer ground floor than not--altho it could be no more than luck of the draw in terms of who's checking out the same day we're checking in...
