We will be staying at BWV in a 2BR on rented points in May on a Sun-Thurs. Our return flight isn't until Saturday, so we need a place to stay on Friday night. DW thinks we can ask at check-in and if they have availability, they might allow us to extend our stay for a fee. I'm doubtful. Can anyone give me a reality check here?

They might let you extend your stay at full rack rates. That would run you $705 plus tax!!! WDW doesn't discount rooms if you book them or extend your stay at the resort. If you don't mind paying that kind of money, go for it. Otherwise, book another resort for that last night. There are some decent discount codes out for that time period. Check www.mousesavers.com for the codes. Usually DVC resorts aren't available with codes, but it is possible!!

The "fee" will be whatever they charge for a 2 bedroom there. Like someone said it runs $700 plus, you might want to stay at the airport and forget WDW the last day or just pay for the 2 bedroom and enjoy. If you plan to rent the room, do it now, do not wait. Even in May at this late date you may have trouble getting the 2 bedroom for an extra day. You can go across to the Swan for a lot less for a regualr room. You are not far from there at BWV

Check out the DIS for great savings on the Dolphin or Swan. Still in the Crescent Lake area, but a wonderful arrival experience, and a short walk from "home". I think we got a rate of $129 per night, well worth it. It's fun to see the restaraunts and amenities (24 hour store and eatery at the Dolphin) that are a short walk from the Boardwalk. If you get a chance to swim, the pool area is great as well.

I extended my OKW trip in May by adding a Friday night in a 1 bedroom for about 30% off ($301 with tax). I would check for a code or AP rate now. I just checked disneyworld.com and they have availability for studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom for 5/21 (at regular rates, you have to call for a discount).

Additional points would be 68 for standard or 72 for preferred for a 2 bedroom weekend night. Rack rate is $705 plus tax = $786. Renting points for another night might be the best option if you can't get a discount. Or as others suggested, move elsewhere.
