I keep hearing about how long the hallways are at BWV, how it's hard to find the elevators, etc.

But, we were thinking of staying there our next stay, because of the location to Epcot and DHS.

Has anyone here had experience staying at BWV in an ECV or WC? Obviously, we would need the elevators, so how hard is it?

Thanks!
Wade

The elevators are off the main lobby. If you already have a w/c or ecv it's pretty easy to navigate the hallways. My dd had a w/c there on her last trip due to an injury while at WDW; we checked out a w/c from concierge and used it the rest of the week, both in the parks and at the resort.

Another option is to request a first floor room and you can avoid the elevator completely when going to the pools, the boardwalk area, or Epcot or HS (either by pathway or boat). You'd only have to take the elevator up one level to use the busses.

We love BWV and hope you do too!!! :goodvibes

Hi, Wade.

The link below is a pdf file of a map of the Boardwalk area showing the resort and elevators and all the surrounding wings to the resort and the different stores on the Boardwalk on the lake.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/BoardWalkMap.pdf

If you can see the #8, that is the Boardwalk Resort main lobby on the map.

To the left past the #9, which is the Disney Sundries store just past the Lobby #8, you will see the main elevator symbols. These elevators are for the DVC villas. The Lobby is actually on the second floor.

You can see the different DVC Villa wings above and below the elevator symbols and see how they stretch a distance. Some people get the rooms all the way at the end of the wings for quiet a walk at the end of a long day at the parks.

The second floor lobby is also where you exit to catch the WDW bus transportation or park your car. You can see that little bus symbol between the parking area and the resort.

There is one elevator to the right of the Lobby, #8 on the map, just accross from the #7, Belle Vue Lounge. This elevator doen't show up on the map. I like to take this elevator down to the first floor to exit to the main boardwalk. This one elevator is just for two floors between the Lobby, the second floor and the first floor.

Both of these elevators have a push button automatic door open to exit the resort to get outside.

Just past this elevator and #7 Belle Vue Lounge is a bank of elevators for the Boardwalk Hotel rooms that are not DVC Villas if you stay there instead. You will see the elevator symbol on the map for this bank of elevators.

I think that they built that two floor only elevator for those staying on this side just to get out on the Boardwalk to the lake instead of going all the way accross the Lobby to get to the other elevators.

Of course, if you were going to the poll you could use either of the two afore mentioned elevators depending on what you want to do.

If you use the 2 floor elevator and exit, you can look across the grassy area and see a large tunnel walkway area that goes directly to the Luna Park pool.

You could just make a request for a room near the elevators because you had a person in your party using a wheelchair.

I hope that this helped.

Have a great time.

I love the Boardwalk area.

They have a wonderful sidewalk around the lake and all the way from Epcot to Disney Hollywood Studios.

The WDW Boat Launch Transportation can also take you to both parks as it visits the surrounding resorts.

Hi I just got back from a trip to the Boardwalk, they put us in room 5290.....which I would make a room request for!! This was an odd shaped room , which allowed there to be almost two whole rooms in one. (IT IS A STANDARD ROOM-TOO)This room had a front entrance with a closet that could fit a whole bed in it and a space for the scooter to be charged, out of the way. Then it had the bathroom and the standard 2 queen beds, couch, desk and balcony. The front entrance area was litterally a WHOLE ROOM attached. (PS GREAT VIEW OF EPCOT FIREWORKS and Eiffle Tower EVERY NIGHT FROM THE BALCONY):woohoo:

It was the first room to the left from the elevators. (No noise, very quiet) All we had to do was take the lobby elevator up to the 5th floor. And to get to the Boardwalk, we took that elevator down to the lobby, headed towards the lobby (a few feet) and took a new elevator down 1 floor to the Boardwalk, which had Handicapped Push Buttons and Automatic Doors. It was really easy.

It was really nice to scoot along the pathways to HS and EPCOT, and you CAN take the boats going there was well. And make sure you make resevations at Cape May Buffet, which was also an enjoyable 5-10 ride across the lake!

I found getting to the Luna Park Pool through the lobby and other side (Villa Elevators) a much, so I just scootered around the Boardwalk to the other side.

We stayed there (for the first time) in April. I was very disappointed in our room location (5095). We were told we were "right near the elevators" and it was the FARTHEST room from the elevators - so DO NOT request that room!

However, the hallways are very long, and if you have an ECV you should be ok, but with a WC - the person will need really strong arms to roll themselves or have someone push them. My DH had a WC and after the first hallway his arms were tired. After we rented an EVC (Boardwalk has a vendor on premises) things went smoothly.

@Cynzilla - is the room you stayed in (5290) a handicap room? What was the room like? DH wants to stay at BWV again so I'm on the lookout for suitable rooms for him. :) He's an above-the-knee amputee. Thanks!!

Sounds wonderful, but it doesn't sound like a BWV room, rather a resort room.

No 5290 is a regular room, not handicapped and not a villa. If you look at the resort map it is in the REGULAR RESORT SECTION, and we didnt make a request other than a "special cleaning" due to health related issues. It didnt have a handicapped bathroom or any special amenities.

The only reason I could think this was an exceptionally large room was it is the the first room near the elevators, which made it a sort of odd shape and directly accross from the Mouskeeping supply room which looked like the same size when we asked for more towels!
