Hi

We're newbies to this site and hopefully we'll be a dvc member soon!

We're starting small and have a contract with ROFR just now for 50 BWV points, Mar use year, all 2010 points, buyer pays closing costs and 2010 mfs at $78 per point.

Contract was passed to Disney on 17 Feb so I know it's too early to hear anything yet but the suspense is unbelievably stressful!!

I've been looking at the fantastic thread on here which details what has passed/failed ROFR - great resource!

I know no-one knows but was wondering what you thought our chances of passing are? I want to be realistic and get prepared for failure if that is likely!!

I think you have a great shot at passing ROFR. Our BWV contract passed today. It is 174 points for $77 a point, with '08, '09, and '10 points included. Our sellers also agreed to pay all of the maintenance fees, with us paying closing costs. Our contract went to Disney on 2/8, and passed on 3/1. Hope you have the same luck we did.

You should have a great shot at passing. We just sold our March Use Year, 350 point contract with all 2009 points banked and buyer pays closing and 2010 member fees for $76 a point. It went to ROFR on 1/19 and we heard 23 days later.

Given the same use year, DVC must not have any people waiting for March points where they let our contract pass.

Best of luck!!

I sure hope yours passes...we are waiting to hear about our offer for 50 pts at BWV for $82/pt with all 2008, 2009 & 2010 points; buyer pays closing and 2010 MF. If yours passes, ours should. We submitted 2/09/10 so we should hear something any day now. Good luck!!

I think you have a shot. We just got through ROFR on OKW, it took about 22 days and we paid $59/pt. Good luck!

If Disney were to buy back say your 350 point contract could they then split this up into smaller contracts or would they need to keep it as a 350 point contract?

Thanks

Disney could split it up. We as sellers cannot split our contracts.

I'm waiting on a BWV contract too. We bid $76/pt for 175, seeing all these that have gone through close to that gives me hope!

Congrats on passing! Any word when you will close?

When is everyone hoping to plan their first trip "home"? I am hoping we pass and have points to use for a trip this Fall! Waiting is so stressful!

Good luck everyone! :goodvibes

I'm confused. when i called dvc yesterday to get info. they told me it was $160/point with a min.buy in of 160 points.
How do you get the point for cheaper?
Thanks

These folks are buying DVC contracts via resale. Check out The Timeshare Store (the banner above this forum) for resale listings. Most you can get for thousands of dollars less than if buying direct through Disney *but* DVC has the first option of buying the contract back if it believes the seller is not selling the contract for enough to keep prices competitive (called Right of First Refusal or ROFR).

To the OP, best of luck to you!! :goodvibes

RESALE!!!!! The Timeshare Store is a sponsor on these boards, at the top of the page there is a link to the DVC resales they have available. All info on UY (use year), points available and price/pt is clearly laid out. Also go to **********.com, they are fabulous to work with as well. There are TONS of available resales that are MUCH MUCH cheaper than what Disney would charge you!

Negative about going resale vs direct from Disney: after your offer is accepted by the seller, you have to submit the contract to Disney for ROFR (right of first refusal), they have to option to deny your sale and buy the contract back instead. It can take up to 30 days to find out whether Disney says yes or no.

IMO Resale is the way to go. If you have the patience to wait through ROFR (whole process can take 6-8 weeks from offer to getting your points), you will save thousands!!!

Good luck! :goodvibes

The TSS email said paperwork within 6 days, then it is a while before the new contract goes to Disney. This is our 4th resale contract, the first with TSS. Our other contracts took 2-3 weeks between closing and being able to book a reservation. Hope your contract passes ROFR - it is so close in price to our contract that just passed - you should be fine!
