We are headed to BWV on March 24 and I have heard that there is construction going on. Anyone have any further details?

We were at BW during mid February and only saw painting and some minor repairs going on. The area that was being done when we were there, was on the inn side from the main boardwalk entrance stairs around past flying fish. There was no disruption in service at the restaurants.

Yes, it looks like they'll be doing quite a bit of work at BWV. Check out dvcmember.com

I recently saw construction updates there.

Can you post on here what and when the construction is? We are going down with our friends who are DVC members, but we're not and I can't get to the site. We're supposed to be staying at the BWV and/or WLV

Thanks!

Information on Renovations at Disney's BoardWalk Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort

As mentioned in earlier editions of Vacation Magic, Disney's BoardWalk Resort will be undergoing extensive renovations during the upcoming months. Please keep the following dates in mind when booking your reservations:

May 7 through September 5-The lobby area will be under enhancement, including the porte cochere.
Luna Park Pool will be closed from September 10 through September 28.
Exterior renovation of Disney's BoardWalk Villas will begin on September 11 near Jellyrolls and will continue along the boardwalk to the Village Green.
Disney's Vero Beach Resort will also be closing its pool for resurfacing from September 10 through September 28. But fear not, the Atlantic Ocean is a comfortable 85 degrees in September and there are plenty of activities available to please avid swimmers and landlubbers alike.

I visited BW last week. The exterior was being painted and repaired on the inn and along the boardwalk to the ESPN Club.

This painting was brought up at the annual meeting last December. The original exterior did not hold up as it should have. So this repair is being done at the expense of the contractor, not the members. Good to see DVC watches out for the expenses!

Oh No! The lobby "enhancement" will be during our first stay--and I am hoping DH is bowled over by the beautiful resort (we took our tour on a gloomy, rainy day). Hope it's not too bad. And what is a porte cochere, or whatever it is?

The porte cochere is the covered entrance over the driveway at the BW entrance.

Just back from BWV.

They are doing a fair amount of work from ESPN to the Flying Fish. From the Fish around to the stairs up to the drive is tented in and walled off.

They covered the inside windows of the Fling Fish with photos of the courtyard so you look “out” and see the photo - nice touch. They start in the midmorning and are gone buy about 4. Paint & prep using a number of lifts.

I work with a lot of contractors. These guys are taking pains to be neat and to the extent possible for such a large job unobtrusive.

All the restaurant and shop entrances from the Boardwalk are open with covered walkways to protect guests. Coffee and snacks from the bakery are just as accessible and therefor just as much a hazard to your diet as ever.

Does anyone know if the work on the Boardwalk villas that begins in September is just on the stores on the boardwalk or is it on the villas themselves? We are planning on going in October with an infant, and I would really not like to have the smell of paint and such in the villa while we are there. Also, if you don't have a boardwalk view would there be a problem at all? Are they just focusing on those villas actually looking out on the Boardwalk? If so, would we have any problem if we had a villa overlooking a pool? This will be our first DVC stay and first stay at Boardwalk so I am not very sure about the layout of the place. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

All of the guest rooms were renovated late last year, so I don't think any rooms will be under renovation this year. Our room in December looked great!

When the Luna pool is closed in Sept. are there going to be any other pool options for guests? We are renting points and are stay begins Sept. 9. My kids are just having a fit that the pool will be closed during our stay. The pool was half the reason we wanted to stay at the villas.

TIA

When a main pool is closed, Disney allows guests of that resort pool-hopping privileges. (Of course, DVC members already have such privileges.)
