BWV Booking Up for Dec 2016 Already

Was on this morning first thing when the online bookings opened with my finger poised on the button and Dec 6th was already unavailable for both a BWV standard view studio and BWV boardwalk studio. Same thing happened yesterday as well. Can't believe how fast those rooms went right in the first minute of the 11 month mark.

I was surprised as well when I called in for December 3. We wanted a 2 bdrm Boardwak view and got garden view instead. Plenty of time for the wait list to work some magic! Good luck!

Tomorrow at 8:00am, it will then show Dec 7 gone. This is just my theory, not sure if it is true but I've never seen dates past the window showing as sold out.

The tool does show when rooms are sold out in the +7 days beyond the 11-month mark. It's just not very common for that to happen. Unless there are very, very few rooms in that category, there's always going to be someone checking out on that one day.

The tool had an issue showing dates filled beyond the 11 month window before changeover of the month -- on December 27,28, 29,30 and 31, it was showing any late Nov dates filled but not any early Dec dates. Once Jan 1 came, the system started showing anything taken for the 7 night period at 11 months out, e.g., on Dec 1, BWV boardwalk view studios (and resulting 2BRs) went full for December 1-5 and the BWV GV Dec. 1-6. If you are seeing rooms filled for the day exactly 11 months out but not the days after, that actually means the days after are not yet filled. That happens often at 11 months out for high demand rooms, and the days after are not gone yet because of differences in the number of check-outs for the dates that follow.

Also rooms have been disappearing for a given day right after 8 a.m. and it is not correct that necessarily means they were already filled the day before or before 8 a.m. and the system is just not showing. The rooms having issues at exactly 11 months or even having days past 11 months out disappear for the early Dec 2016 period have been the following: BLT standard view(all sizes), VGF studios (and resulting 2BR lockouts), AKV value studios and 2BRs and even the 1BR for one of the days thus far, AKV club level studios/2BRs and 1BRs for a couple days, BWV boardwalk view studios/2BRs and the 1BR on one of the days, BWV standard view studios and 2BRs but not the 1BR yet though it has been disappearing later in the day, and the OKW GV's in the Near Hospitality House booking category. Note 11 month issues began with dates early October and have appeared off and on since then. However, none of the periods in October and November saw the degree with which it is happenning now with early Dec.

Are you looking at the availability tool or the actual reservation system? I'm looking at AKV concierge studio and it only shows the 6th sold out, 7th to 13th is showing available. I don't own at AKV so I can't look at the actual reservation system.

I just checked BWV, only the 6th is showing sold out for standard & boardwalk view studios. That's a Tuesday. It surprises me that the rest of the week isn't booked up. I did check the actual reservation system since I own there.

I was only looking at the CRAP I saw those dates sold out for the studio. I just checked and it has changed as you say so there must have been at least one cancellation but if you look at a 1BR for both concierge or value you'll see that the 7th is already gone. I also took a look at the online booking tool which showed the same info. But I had not done that with the concierge studio the other night.

Just to point out that the AKV Jambo 2BR's are only sold out because the 1BR's are gone and they only have lock-offs there.

It's been tough to get standard and BW view studios (after the booking category was initiated) for early December for almost as long as we've owned there - since 1999. Fall wasn't always as difficult, but some weeks (like Columbus Day week),are now becoming almost as difficult to reserve as early December). That said, I've not ever had an issue booking the 1 bedroom standard view and the Pool/Garden studios have often been available at 7 months. Hope that doesn't change.

FWIW, now that they've "upgraded" the BWV studios with that awful bed/table/TV combo, I personally have zero interest in staying in a studio, but suspect that the change will make the BWV studios even more difficult to get at both 11 and 7 months. JMHO. YMMV.

It also seems to me that a lot of BWV contracts have been changing hands in the last couple of years. The new owners are much more likely (IMO) to have purchased for either F&W or early December and they know they must book early to reserve standard or Boardwalk view studios for those popular times. I suspect that a lot of them purchased small contracts just for those times after being completely shut out at 7 months.

I watched BWV studios (standard and BW views) for Sept and Oct and they were gone like that too. I booked Oct 1-5 a couple days into the 11 month mark (was planning to book late Oct or early Nov but then found out SIL was going the 1st week of Oct). I had to take P/G view studio. I can still book a standard view 1BR but need to buy 7 OTU points to book so maybe if it's still there at 7 month mark. I think there are just so few of those 2 views and everyone who owns BWV is gonna try for those 2 views first.

And to Carol above- I bought 80 BWV in 2014 to use for F&W and I bought direct. I could have gotten BCV (our Fave) for the same price but bought BWV to save points on standard view. Now I see the difficulty in booking that. But we will be mostly interested in a 1BR so that may not be as bad in the future.

What is a BWV-Preferred View? I just booked BWV for July and BWV-Standard View was not available, so I took the Preferred View. I was not given a choice of Boardwalk View at any point. Are Preferred and Boardwalk the same, different, something else?

Technically preferred view can be either BW view or Pool/Garden view and both are separate booking categories so they should have told you which you booked. My guess is that you got Pool/Garden view which takes the same points as BW view.

Now that DVC made categories at SSR, I wonder if they will make Sv, P/Gv and BWv cost 3 different points. I wish they would cause I hate spending the same points on P/Gv and not getting BWv. v=view

Also want to add that I went on waitlist for BW view 2 months ago and nothing yet. I went on WL the very day I booked P/G view (2 days into 11 month window). And it's just a 4 night stay.

The problem with walkers is that they open up one day at a time. Even a 4 night stay has very little chance of matching on the waitlist. Single-day waitlists might have helped within the first week. That's how I got my October BWV standard view reservation.

Yeah, ppl are definitely walking even standard 1bds at Boardwalk. Only the day of is all booked-- the days before and after are open.

We decided we want Boardwalk std 1bd from dec 10-13. I'll just Waitlist day by day if I need to...
