We've always stayed standard view, but for our upcoming trip we have a boardwalk view. We'll be in a studio, and after the kids are down, my husband and I want to enjoy some time on the balcony.

Would you recommend a higher floor for noise reasons? What about balconies? I think I remember reading that some are solid so you can't see while you sit. Please let us know what you'd request. I understand that requests are just that. Thanks for any insight.

We requested high floor, covered non-solid balcony and received all three. We were above Big River and could watch people playing the games, it was wonderful. The balcony was teeny tiny though. Absolutely loved the view.

We've stayed Boardwalk view many times. I always request higher floor because we like to watch the fireworks with a glass of wine from the balcony each night. Also to watch the comings and goings of the people down below. However, I must admit that a higher floor doesn't do anything to decrease noise levels. As long as the door is closed, the kiddos should be fine.

we haven't had a BW View yet where you could really see if you were sitting down. Even the slatted rails are thick enough and high enough that you can't see over them, and seeing through them leaves you with not much view. We stand on the balconies when we want to people/fireworks watch.

I don't find noise from the Boardwalk to be very bad any longer. The first few years it was open, they had street parties at night until 1am... Loud music, even with door closed you were in the party. Never booked Boardwalk view again while those were going on!

Request high floor, Crest O the Wave section. High floor assures any possible noise factor is de minimis and the Crest O the Wave section is the last section on the boardwalk that runs from where the Big River restaurant area ends to the beginning of Jellyrolls. The highest risk of a bothersome noise factor actually occurs about 2 in the morning when Atlantic Dance closes and you sometimes get some very loud inebriated people walking by. The Crest O the Wave section has only rail-type balconies none of which face any issue of blockage and provide very good views. Requesting any other section, such as above the Big River creates a risk of a blocked view (studios on the second and fifth floor in that section have a solid wall that prevents seeing down to the boardwalk when sitting).

We have stayed on second floor BW view and had to stand to enjoy it. Noise wasn't bad. This past trip we had a ground floor next to the DVC show model. We were happy it was available since we were early. It was surprisingly nice but it was not private. You could also not walk directly out on the boardwalk. You could certainly hear people out in the evening but still not bad.

Drusba....I was wondering why I kept hearing loud drunks at 2 am. I didn't realize Atlantic Dance actually was open.

The nice thing about the blocked decks on the second floor is they are rather large and private. Not fun for smaller kiddos, though, as they probably can't see at all. I used to not like Crest of the Wave section, but it is growing on me. You get a nice view of Epcot fireworks and also MK fireworks in the distance.

We usually request Crest O the Wave...not a studio but the one bedroom way way way way down the long hall (5001, 4001, 3001). But we do love the view. In all honesty, once I'm tucked in, I really have never heard noise from the boardwalk. Another side we like, is the Luna Pool view...but (not remembering east, west, north, south) the best I can describe is the wing opposite the Leaping Horse. From there you can see all the Hollywood Studio fireworks.
