I've got a question for those experienced DVCers, and especially BWV owners. We own at SSR and are thinking about a vacation in Sept 2008 (I know it's a long way off, but we are planners). I really would love to stay in a two bedroom at BWV with a boardwalk view. We have always wanted to try it.

Here is my dilema. I know Sept is a slow month, both at the parks and DVC, but what are the chances of making this happen at the 7-month mark day by day. :confused3

If this is not likely, does anyone have any bright ideas...such as selling my SSR points and buying BWV points, perhaps paying a small premium, but getting the 11-month window.

I would love any thoughts on this.

If there's a month that it could be done in, September is it. You will at least get a preferred view room, if not a Boardwalk view calling day by day at 7 months. The CM will tell you how it looks for the rest of your reservation on the first day. If you needed to, you could take a preferred view and waitlist the Boardwalk view.

Before going to the trouble of selling and buying points, I'd try and rent points from a BWV owner and making sure you love the Boardwalk first.

I also think you have a very good shot at BW view 2 bdrm. in Sep, especially if you call day-by-day at 7 months. Good luck. We are hooked on BW view rooms.

I was able to get a 2BR BW view room at the 11 month window in May. I then got a studio a few months later without much problem. i had to waitlist the studio for a couple of days. I would try it. At the least you can probably get a preferred view and try to upgrade it.

Not to misunderstand...I would not sell my contract and buy a BWV contract, I would just rent out my points for the year, then rent points from a BWV owner and try to get the room booked around the 11-month window. Thanks for all the help. Any more opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I booked three studios with boardwalk views for may 2007 with the 7 month window with no problem.
Is this unusual? I get the idea from reading these boards that it is sometimes hard to book at 7 months out.
this will be our first trip as dvc owners and we are very excited! :cheer2:

That's good to know, Sue, thanks. If you got studios in May, I really think I will have a shot of getting what I need.

Sue, did you book day by day?

no, I booked for the week, 5/19 - 5/26 - I didnt realize that you might have to do that, I guess maybe I got lucky. :Pinkbounc

You should be find then, My sister just got a 2 bedrm for May without calling day by day at the 7 month.

I don't think you'll have too much problem in Sept. getting a BW view. I got one this summer just a few months before our trip. We were orginally booked at BCV, but had to change our dates and BCV was booked for those dates but they had a BW view available! I took it and boy was it great!!! I think if you call right at the 7 month mark you should be able to get in!

I'm assuming it means you book 7 days (all as individual days) as opposed to one week, or calling every day until it becomes available.

Help for a Newbie, please...:confused3

Calling day by day means that on the day that is 7 months prior to the check-out day for the first day of your reservation, you call MS and reserve the room that you want. Tell the CM that you are calling day by day to make a reservation for X number of days, and that you will finish it on X day. Then the agent knows not to close out the reservation. The next day, you call and tell the CM that you are adding to an existing reservation. Easy as pie.

I have had some CM's to discourage me from making the day by day reservation, but pay them no mind. If you do, you may end up on the waiting list. But, for slow times, you are probably okay.
