BWV & BCV Questions!

Hi!

I stayed at BWV last year - 2-bedroom, Standard View. Our room was on Boardwalk Level which I liked as it was convenient with stroller to just walk out to boat or buses. Also, having a very active and curious toddler I felt better that our balconies were on ground level.

We're going again this year - same time of year - and I have the extra points to book a BWV preferred view of BCV.
After much consideration we want to put either of these as our first choices because we really like the convenience of staying in that area.

We have to book 7 months out as the our friend's home resort (we're renting points) is SSR. We booked 7 months last year and got BWV standard view no problem. I know rooms can book fast and I do have my list of choices for resorts and since I have enough points for a 2-bedroom at any of the resorts for the time I want to stay I think I'll be fine. As SSR will be one of my choices, I'm pretty sure I should be able to get a 2-bedroom there the first or 2nd week of Sept. if the others aren't available and that looks like a nice place to stay.

Anyway - my question.

Right now I'm planning on putting BWV Preferred view as my first choice. Does anyone know if there are 2-bedroom PV rooms available on Boardwalk level (if so I will add that to my request)?

I know the chances are very slight for BCV at 7 months, but just in case we get lucky, can anyone give me some good reasons (aside from it's a different resort from last year) to put BCV as first choice and BWV preferred view as
2nd?

If you had your choice where would you prefer to stay? (BWV or BCV).
For fun, what order would be your choices for 2 bedroom the first or 2nd week of Sept amonth these resports?

I have stayed at both BWV and BCV and I just love love BCV I would choose BCV over BWV.

For the same amount of points, I'd get a BW View if possible. It may not be available at 7 months, but I think that view is the best. Of course, there aren't very many ground level units in this category. With young kids, you may not want the BW view anyway. The PV would be a water view I believe (canal or pool) - your kids may enjoy that a lot.

Our home resort is BWV so we are partial to it over BCV, but the whole resort area is lovely. You can't go wrong with either!

I love BWV because of the easy walk to both DHS and Epcot. But you may prefer BCV for the wonderful SAB pool, especially since early Sep. can be beastly hot.
If you decide on BWV, the BW view rooms are a special booking category of preferred view. There are actually a few rooms on the ground level at the end near Jellyrolls. Not sure what size rooms these are but you might want to request one if a ground floor room is important to you.

we greatly prefer the BWVs over BCVs (we own at both, so it's not a matter of "owner's pride"). the things that many like about the BCVs is the pool (which you might or might not like ~ some with tots find it too big & crowded ), & the counter service.
however, we find BWVs offer much more: incredible views, street performers, incredible views, community hall, incredible views, carny games & lots to do in the eve as well as daytime (& did i mention the incredible views? )


you are going during a slower time of year, so getting any of your choices is possible. enjoy

I believe there is only 1 two bedroom lockoff at boardwalk level, boardwalk view. I personally would not want it, it's right next to Jellyrolls and would be very noisy. For a preferred pool/garden at BWV, your choices would be main pool, quiet pool, Swan/Dolphin.

For a BCV 2 bedroom, you would have a choice of 2 bedroom lockoff, 2 bedroom dedicated, 2 bedroom dedicated w/2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. I'm not sure how many of each are on the ground level.

I think with a toddler you might enjoy BCV better this trip. SAB has a wonderful pool area that is only 2 (or so) feet deep and is full of 'sand' to make castles and dig.

It's near the very kiddie pool and playset. Also Hurricane Hannah's is right there and they do have waitresses that will serve pool side. Very nice if you have your hands full with kids. Those fruity drinks come in handy too! There is also a small slide on the shipwreck portion of the pool that you little one might like.

And if you are just out running off a little energy you can sit on the beach and play in the sand. They also do a campfire and move on the beach on some nights.

I do enjoy BWV. The preformers on the boardwalk and the community hall are two things that make it a great child friendly resort as well.

For a BCV 2 bedroom, you would have a choice of 2 bedroom lockoff, 2 bedroom dedicated, 2 bedroom dedicated w/2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. I'm not sure how many of each are on the ground level.

There are no dedicated 2 bedroom w/2 queens in the 2nd bedroom on the first floor. So it is either dedicated 2 bedroom w/queen bed and queen Sleeper sofa or a 2 bedroom lock-off.

I had a first floor room when my little one was 2 and it was very nice to slip out the door and hop over the shrubbery for a walk while the rest of the family were napping. Also not having to deal with elevators with a stroller is very nice. The back side of BCV does face the road and can be very close in places so that may be a concern if you have an adventurous toddler.

Wow, thanks for all the input. And the pics were great! It's a tough decision, but not really as both resorts are great and I love the location. I've stayed at both hotels and only BWV on DVC.

To be honest, the biggest advantage I see for BCV is it's a bit of a closer walk to EPCOT, and on the long days when you're feet are buring, every step counts! I love Cape May character breakfast and it's just as easy to go if we're at BWV or BCV.

With a toddler the Boardwalk view isn't a biggie right now. And I wouldn't want to be all the way by Jellyrolls for a Boardwalk level. I noticed some rooms on Boardwalk level where you can just walk out from your balcony to the pool area. DH would love that as he likes to go to the pool when my son is taking his rest in the afternoon.

So I'm thinking I'll just request Preferred View - Boardwalk level if possible and see what happens.

BUT I still have until the February to decide on my choice order...it'll give me something to change my mind about for awhile.

BTW - we went last year on Labor Day week (arrived on Sunday before labor day) and got our 1st choice 7 months out plus my friend made the request online and put it in 7 months from the day we left (I know the rules have changed). This year I'm thinking of going the week after Labor Day week primarily because if I went Labor Day week this year we'd be flying home on 9/11 and though I know it's proabably one of the safest days to fly now, I still feel unsure about it especially since I saw everything first hand from my office window.

The patio areas on the ground floors are surrounded by shrubbery, so you really can't use it as an exit to the pool area. Plus you can't lock the door to the patio from the outside. On the BW side, I think there is a fence around the patio, primarily to keep the non-guests off your patio. At the BCV there are some patios that are completely surrounded by lattice fencing to keep unwanted guests out of your patio.

The isn't really a view of the BCV from the BW because the BCV is behind the BC.

Rather than saying "boardwalk level", I would call it "first floor". They usually don't refer to the rooms around the pools as "boardwalk level", it might be misinterpreted as wanting to be out on the boardwalk (the 3 or 4 rooms out there) and they just disregard it.

Thanks for the advice on floor number Debbie. I remember last year when we arrived the woman at the desk told us to take the elevator down a floor. I guess I always think of the floor with the lobby as the 1st floor. I can't remember where or who said "Boardwalk Level".

So if I request first floor I will get a room the next level down from the lobby.
Is the lobby floor considered the 2nd Floor? Just so I have it right when I make the request.

Yes, the lobby is on the second floor. It gets confusing because the driveway where the bus stop is located is uphill.
