We are planning our annual F & W October vacation at the Boardwalk. Next year planning to go Oct. 18-Oct.27. BWV is our home Resort. Just for kicks I went online this morning at around 9:00 am and checked availability for Oct. 17-Oct.-Oct. 24 which is the earliest dates that could be booked. October 17showed no availability! Can you belive that? This is only one hour after earliest ressie could be made(8:00 am)

Wow, did you waitlist? I booked at BCV because we own at both and saw the rooms were available all nights, but not at BWV. Hopefully you'll get to go. :wave2:

No availability any view? Surprised that pool garden would be full.

People could have started booking that night if they arrived 7 days before so more than 1 hour.

Pool and Garden View were available. I was looking for Standard View. I'll be on the computer at 8:00 am tomorrow.

We were at the Boardwalk for F & W this year from Oct. 4-14, which first weekend was Columbus day weekend. It was very crowded so we decided to go later next year but it looks like it won't be any less crowded. I heard last weekend, Veterans Day weekend and last for F & W was really mobbed. I guess the entire 6 or seven weeks of Food and Wines Festival is very popular. I wonder whcih of the weeks would be the quietest?

I do the same thing and every year when I go to WDW the first Monday after Thanksgiving weekend, and sometimes there are one or days not available. I guess that happens because folks have earlier reservation days than myself and book before my first available booking date.

I have literally waited until I got off work to call in the morning and was shocked to see no availability at 11 months out.

I went the last week of October in 2010, the weekdays were pretty quiet.

Yes, I've been noticing this too! I am also hoping to book a standard studio for next October and am finding minutes after the window opens, the standard studios (and 2 bedrooms) are booked up for the arrival date. But this is also true for BLT standard studios too. I own at both to be able to book the standard rooms at the 11 month window, but the availability is gone before the 11 month window opens, most likely from folks going the day before me/us. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for later next week when I have to book for next year. I also checked this morning to see what the availability was looking like and was shocked to see the 17th was not available before 9:00AM today. I would check throughout the day though because the online holds your reservation for a short time, so someone who has to let it go could actually free it up. BTW we were there this year Oct. 12-27 and found the weather wonderful, but the crowd levels pretty high, esp. with the conventions and F&W. Though it would never stop us from going the last 2 weeks of October.

I just booked this morning a standard studio at BWV for Oct 17-24. I was refreshing and booked as soon as it was available. I went to check right after I finished booking and at no later than 8:05am the night of the 17 was not available. Wow. I need to extend 2 more nights, will be calling in a couple days to do that. But I also need another standard studio for my brothers starting Oct 19 for a week. So I'll be on the computer refreshing at 7:59 am again Monday morning.

This is my first time booking BWV for Food & Wine with my own points, have always rented before. Is this normal? I know for our week in 2011 we were able to move our rented week 1 day early and drop a day off the end sometime nearing the 7 month. This was a standard studio a well. This just seems nuts!

The OP must be looking at a Studio because there is no issue with availability for a 1BR in any view at that time. I didn't check 2BRs or GVs.

For Studios the night of Thu Oct 17 is unavailable for Standard View and Boardwalk view (it is available for Pool & Garden view) but the night before (Wed Oct 16) is available in all views. Boardwalk View Studios show availability for the Monday and Tuesday prior as well. Not sure what is going on on that Thursday night. I had something like this happen to me a year or so ago. I decided at 9 or 10 months out to book BWV for the second week of October. I could get all of my nights except for the Thursday night in the middle of our stay. I waitlisted for it and it did eventually come through, just a few days before the 7-month window opened.

So what is it about random Thursday nights during F&W???

ETA: Checking an earlier week in Oct (Sun Oct 6 - Sat Oct 12) for a Standard View Studio, the Sun is not available, Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri are available but the Wed in the middle (Oct 9) and the Sat are not available. I can understand the weekends getting booked up but why is Wed Oct 9th unavailable? Very odd. It is available in Boardwalk View (as are the three nights prior). It's interesting looking at what is getting booked up right at 11 months out for F&W. The weekends are going quickly for Standard View and Boardwalk View but some odd days here and there are also getting booked up, making it difficult to book a weekday trip without waitlisting unless you are OK with Pool & Garden view or are willing to move up to a 1BR where there is no problem with availability.

I was online at 8:00 am this morning and no problem booking standard view for October 18-25. I have two more days to add. I never had a problem before at 11 months out but I guess things have changed.

I, too, booked this morning. I was able to get two std studios. I just checked the member site (8:40), and there are still std studios available, so I think maybe Columbus Day had something to do with the rooms going so fast.

Yes, I was checking today too. I'm sure availability will change a few minutes after 9:00AM. I've never had a problem at the 11 month window mostly because I avoid holidays. This is a little stressful now. I saw BLT standard studio was also available this morning too.

Good to hear thanks for the reports from this morning. Hoping tomorrow will be just as smooth.

I saw sometime mentioned that a standard studio was available on wed oct 16. It was not when I checked mid day on nov 16. Could that be due to people walking reservations? Interesting.

Columbus Day weekend and the week containing Columbus Day is very popular (and also quite busy in the parks, relative to the later October weeks). Many southern schools have Columbus Day week off for a fall break and some of the northern schools have long weekends.

I just checked a few minutes ago (6:30PM) and the night of the 18th is now not available, so while not first thing in the morning, it was still exactly 11 months out for the day of.

I just checked (6:45pm eastern time) and Standard View and Boardwalk View studios are not available for the night of Oct 18 but there is availability for a Pool and Garden View studio and for 1BRs in all views.

Studios in all views are available for all 6 nights following Oct 18th but unfortunately with the 18th unavailable, someone starting their trip that night cannot book anything today.

Keep checking back. It is likely people are walking reservations and will eventually cancel the days you are looking for as they walk their reservation forward.

Example. You want a room Oct 13-19. You SHOULD only be able to call on Nov 13. BUT actually, if you want to book Oct 13, you COULD call Oct 6 and book 7 nights to get the 13th. Then the next day you cancel the 6 and add the 14th, etc. until you get the days you want. We did just book at BW and could tell it was happening by watching the days available. If you know the pattern you're looking for, you may be able to tell if that's what's happening.

Unfortunately walking is allowed and member services not only is aware, but even knows how to explain it to people.

OK, so I booked Oct. 18-25. Now I need to add two more days. I can't do this online the conventional way but I could go oline at 8:00 am and book another week, Oct. 19-26 then later cancel Oct. 19-25 then do the same tomorrow morning. If I wait until 9:00 am to call MS it's possible the 26th could be booked up. There should be a way to add days online to an existing 7 day reservation without walking reservations.

i called MS yesterday at 9AM - although website showed a bit more availablity moments before, i could not get even 7 consecutive days anytime in Oct 2013 (we were looking for a BW view studio for minimum 10 days).
i booked the earlier part of Oct for 5 nights in BW view, and waitlisted the other nights (booked P/G as backup).
we also own at BCV, which had lots of inventory available (we prefer BWV however).

guess it was really foolish of me to tell so many ppl, over the many years, how amazing BW view is :guilty:
