Hi all - We (me, husband and son) are staying in a 1BR at BWV in a couple of weeks and I wanted to find out if anyone had experience with getting an air mattress for their room. My son now has a friend coming along and they are both 14 and near 6ft tall so sharing the pull-out is not a great option.

While talking to MS about waitlisting for a 2BR (which is not looking good at this time :( ), I was told that there is a limited number of air mattresses and we could request it at check-in. Does anyone have any experience with this? If you get one, do you have to blow it up or will they bring it to you that way? What are they like? Any information you have would be appreciated.

I have never heard or seen anything posted about Disney supplying air mattresses.

Yes they do have an air mattress, I was just there Aug 23 -Sept 2nd. I called and asked if they had a cot and they said you can get an air Mattress, I said great can you send one up. She replied yes, it is $15.00 a night, WHAT:scared1: I said are you kidding, nope she wasn't. Told the kids get in bed you are sleeping together:rotfl: If you really need one I would bring it.

What we did do was take the mattress off my moms sofa and put it on our floor, then put it back the day we checked out.

You were misinformed by the CM (that isn't unusual). DVC doesn't provide extra sleeping spaces. If you need an additional sleeping space so someone doesn't have to share a bed, you need to bring your own. Including the linens and items that go with that sleeping space.

Our first trip as DVC owners in 1998 we stayed 2 nights at BWV and they did in fact provide a rollaway bed. That was then and this is now and they don't do it any more but I have heard of people getting an air mattress. I would get one from Walmart along with a cheap pump. We did this and put everything in a separate duffle bag including sheets and a lightweight fleece blanket. It was one of the elevated twin size ones and my son then about 6 ft and 150 pounds did just fine on it. If you are flying anything other than Southwest you may have to spread the various items among the rest of your luggage to avoid having an extra bag and extra charges.

Technically DVC does not provide ANY additional bedding. Not even a sheet to lay down on an air mattress you bring.

Some people have reported that they have been able to get an air mattress. I wouldn't count on it since policy is that they don't - like a lot of Disney policy, it appears to be the whim of the cast member.

Some people find the air mattress to be the perfect use for their owners locker ;)
