BWV 7 month availability???

I am considering two different scenarios for 2011...

First, my DD's (ages 6 and 4) are begging me to take them to the Boardwalk. My DD4 has had me scouring the DisBoards to show her every picture of the Boardwalk that I can find. I don't know where they got this from...I haven't talked about it all that much. They saw the clown slide and they are now obsessed!

So, I am thinking about taking them for a trip right after they get out of school in June. I am looking at the second or third week of June 2011. I am an owner at AKV so I would not be able to book until the 7 month window. What is my best chance? I am open to weekdays, weekends, studios and/or 1BR's. I like doing split stays between studios and 1BR's since we generally don't arrive until the late afternoon anyways. I prefer to book a studio for at least the first night, but with just the three of us, 5 nights in a studio would be fine too. I have eliminated the standard view from my plans since I am sure that will be impossible, regardless of room size.

The second trip I am considering (and it would be one or the other, not both trips) is a F&W trip in October with my BFF, no kids, no hubbies! We'd like to try the BWV for that trip, but I am thinking that there is about no chance of getting any studio in October at 7-months. What, if any, would be my most likely room type to snag?

Either trip would be with borrowed points so there is no possibility of doing an 11-month "fall back" reservation at AKV. I would probably wait until 7-months out anyways to call, just so I would have all of my options available to me at one time.

I've never stayed there and I have only visited the Boardwalk once (in 2001!) but yet I am strangely obsessed with staying there!

Ii have stayed there 2 times, we LOVE it! I also own at AK, this past Feb. we were able to get a boardwalk view studio for 7 of our 10 days at the boardwalk at 4 months. So it is possible, i guess it just depends on what the crowds will be at the time you go and whats booking more than others.the Year before was able to get the same at 5 months for November during Thanksgiving , so you never know. good luck!

We ALWAYS stay at BWV for the 4th of July week. We own at SSR and have not ever had an issue booking at 7 month window at BWV.
Have never done F&W so can't give you any input on that 1, Shawn

It is probably easier to get the boardwalk view in June. We own at BWV but have actually never stayed in the boardwalk view! Our favorite is actually to stay near the quiet pool. If you are close to the stairs, it is an easy walk down to the pool, which we love much more. The community hall is right there and I can hang out at the pool while my son spends his time in the pool or at the CH. Its also much easier to get the Pool/Garden view.

The Boardwalk is a lot of fun for kids. Almost every night there is some form of entertainment as you get home from the park at night. One of our favorite things to do is to get a pizza from the window and eat on the Boardwalk at night, and then just spend the time watching the entertainers!

I was wondering this as well. We want to stay at BWV. We own in BLT and we were interested in getting a boardwalk view the last week of January 2011. I hope it is available!

I doubt you'll get a view. BUT, my in-laws got pool view just one WEEK out for next week. They called last Wed (1/20) and arrive on Sunday (1/31).

January was very quiet.

Actually, I don't know that I want a Boardwalk view. I would love to be in one of those rooms right next to the pool since the pool is why my girls want to stay there so bad. We wouldn't have a car so how bad is the walk to the buses from the pool-area rooms?

We were just there last weekend. From the main pool, it wouldn't be far at all. The elevator is just off the lobby. The buses are out the front drive to the left. You can also boat to EP and DHS which would be a left to the water. Probably closer than the bus stop. And it's a nice walk to both as well. If you have tired kids, you might choose boat.

I don't think you can catch a bus to Epcot and maybe not even DHS. FYI.

We're staying in a 1BR at BWV this June on a reservation made at the 7 month window. We reserved Standard view (which is supposed to be the most difficult to get). I didn't walk the reservation either. June shouldn't be too hard. Now F&W Fest will be a totally different story.

THAT is awesome news! We are not going in 2012 (since my dad is taking the extended family) so our 2012 points will either be borrowed into 2011 or banked into 2013. I would like to do a little combo....borrow a few and bank a few so that we can go in 2011 AND 2013. The 2013 trip would be over spring break (premiere season) so the more I can bank into 2013, the better. A standard studio at BWV would be a great point saver.

I'm glad you're confident you'll get what you want, I think you will, too!

I read your post this morning and thought of it for a good portion of my drive to work. I'm in my 60s and I had a "read a book, listen to the record" of Bozo the Clown, and every time I'm at the BW now, I think of the great times that I had listening to the story. Most of my books/records were Disney, the classics, but Bozo was different and he was a favorite!

I called yesterday about early July availability (about 5.5 months in advance) and they did have a pool/garden view studio for a 6 night block. My sister might try for a 2 bedroom at BWV at the 7 month window for the end of Food & Wine Fest (November).

We were able to book a BWV studio BW view for May at 7 months. We were on the WL for 1 week until it came through. DS, DDIL and GS also got a BWV view studio for the same time with out the WL. Can't wait for our first stay in a BW view! Good luck with your vacation.
