BWV 5/1 to 5/7 Report (long)

That was the most tasteful saying of "it wasn't for us" that I have seen on these boards! Anyone that takes it personally, well - phooey on them. :teeth:

I totally agree w/ lllovell. Your report was not harsh...and I agree that folks with really young kids might want to think twice b/c the walk or boat from Int'l Gateway and MGM can be tough on tiny legs or parents hauling sleeping kids.

I'm glad that we stayed at OKW when our girls were toddlers b/c we really like to use our car to get around at the parks and it is soooo convenient from that resort.

Just take out the bullets and it would be a great trip report! ;)

Sorry that you personally had to carry on the legacy of Richyams by getting the very last room. Maybe someday they'll install a tram from the lobby to the end of the hallway. Or maybe move a couple surrey bikes indoors.

I think the croquet green is just the result of jealousy when they heard about our oval at BCV. No way a game of croquet can compare to the excitement of our annual oval races.

Tkraz, - Were you able to bring the toddlers on Soarin? I have twin boys that will be 3 and I was wondering if they could ride with me and my wife.

Thanks

Soarin has a 40" height requirement. Our 4yo son is about 43", so he had no problems.

For children who are over 40" but not quite up to a higher mark on the ride vehicle itself you need to use a strap that runs between the legs in addition to the standard lap belt. That extra strap just keeps them from sliding out from under the lap belt since the seats are built to full adult size.

Fortunately every seat is equipped with this extra strap, so it's not like you need to split up your group and/or wait for special seating for the toddlers. Very clear instructions are given during the pre-show; it is a very painless process.

I'm sorry you didn't find BWV to your liking with family. It's really interesting how people are different. I don't mind walking ANYWHERE with a stroller. My dd is 3 1/2. She is about 38" tall, and weighs about 29 lbs, and yet....lazy me just spent nearly $400 on a stroller before we left so that we would have an umbrella folding stroller that completely lays down and has has a "leg extension" so she can lie down like "first-class" on the airplanes!!! (If anyone is interested...the 2005 Peg Perego Pliko P3 is the "Rolls Royce" of strollers...and, she still has room to grow...I bet we get to use it for one more year!!!). However, even with the "bells and whistles" that this one has, I HATE loading it into and out of busses and cars (although, on our last trip, we scored a PTCruiser which made it really nice to get the stroller in and out. :goodvibes )

However, we are selling our OKW points because we felt that when we had to drive to every park, we might as well be staying off-site. We missed the Epcot resorts SOOO much!!! While I agree that MGM is a LONG haul (and bus service there is REALLY bad IMO), the walk to Epcot MORE than makes up for it as far as we are concerned. I love walking out of my hotel and being "right in the middle" of the action...yet, having a peaceful hotel experience when you want that.

I'm so glad that you have found out that SSR is your "resort of choice". I think everyone should have the opportunity to own the resort that is their favorite...it's a WONDERFUL feeling!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks for posting your wonderful report (and, I didn't think you were at ALL harsh).

One of the things I like about Disney transportation is the ability to converse with other passengers. My daughter loves to meet other kids. The one trip where we stayed off site with a car just didn't have the same magic.

Any BW veteran knows there is but one thing to do while waiting for a boat to show up.......Eat. :) Nothing like a fresh pastry, ice cream cone, slice of pizza, etc. to tide you over as you wait for the boat.

Its funny about Disney transportation. Each visitor has a different take on it, and it really comes down to luck. When we were at the BWV and WLV last month, we never waited longer than 5 minutes for a boat or a bus(except one late night for the boat from MK to WL) and no trip took longer than 20 minutes. Then you have people back that say it took 45 minutes to get home by bus, etc. It seems timing is everything.

I'm like others on here that don't like to fold up the strollers. They are like moving lockers, filled with all our stuff. One evening our daughter fell asleep in the stroller on the way to MGM by boat. We rolled right off the boat, I went on TOT and RNR while my daughter slept the whole time(DW is pregnant, so she sat and people watched). Not having to get a sleeping child(or tired one) out of the stroller is a big plus for us. Thus the love for the Epcot resorts.

We often take the boat to the T&T at MK for that very reason, to let those pooped little ones get a nap without having to take them out of the stroller. That said, I have discovered that the rolling feel of the bus is more likely to knock them out than anything else so its a win win!
