I would waitlist for BWV 1 bedroom with the same view category that you ahve for the 2 bedroom for the night of the 19th, if its not available. That way if you get it, you can shorten your stay in the 2 bedroom by one night, and probably just "lose" the studio portion of your 2 bedroom (not garunteed, but highly likely). Then a) you probably won't have to move, and b) one night wait lists have the best chance of coming through.

You can save the points but you will spend a fair amount of time in the move to a different resort. DW and I did a split stay 2 years ago. We stayed at AKV for 3 nights and then BWV for 3 nights. We also did a split stay a few months ago at Aulani but that was from a Studio to a 1 bedroom. In the first split stay, it took the bulk of the morning to make the move between the packing, travel to the new resort, check-in, then getting settled and that was just two of us. In the second split stay, we were at the same resort so the move only took about an hour tops.

Taaren's idea sounds good. Staying at the same resort and especially in the same room will save time and allow you to spend more time at the parks.

I wouldn't move for just one night. We have eight nights in a two bedroom VWL in January. We might have four of us for the first few nights, maybe only three. Then we have two friends join us for a few nights. Then we are down to four people for the last night. We'll just enjoy the extra space.

I wouldn't move for the one night. On our next trip, coming up in 2 weeks:) we have a 2 bedroom and our family is leaving on Sunday, DH and I are staying in the villa until Monday.

I wouldn't move to save 20 points. We have done multiple split stays, with most seeing us homeless most of the next day. We have decided that split stays aren't for us - too much packing and unpacking, and having no villa to return to for the afternoon are the big downsides for us. We like to unpack and make a villa our home base for the duration of our stay.

I agree with the others...time is money, and is it really worth it to pack up, and then go through check-in at another resort for 20 points?

That said, if your answer is yes, it is worth it...then I'd recommend OKW. But remember, since you are moving and not arriving at the new resort via ME, you'll need to tip the luggage people both leaving the BWV and arriving at the new resort, unless you tote your own luggage/have a car.

Yes we would transfer our luggage ourselves.. Now im thinking maybe stay at Art of Animation to save points all together.. we only have 180 for 2014. An extra 55 would give us so much more flexibilty. We plan on doing a park that whole day anyways and just plan on going back late that afternoon to swim and get ready to go home. We would pack with my inlaws and never really unpack for the final night.

I was pondering over our upcoming holiday (10-24april 2013) and ended up changing my booking 3 times as wanted enough points to go again in 2014 but also have enough points to rent to cover dues. As its my first stay as an owner I wanted to stay at my home resort(VWL) and also try somewhere new. The first 7nights we are having a studio at VWL and I originally wanted 7nights at BLT in a one bedroom standard view but it was only available for 4 of the 7 nights so had to book the lake view with higher pointage.Last week I checked again and I had some pixie dust and our last 6nights there was a standard view available so I decided to cancel the lake view of 7nights and book one night in a studio at BLT( the day we are at seaworld) and the 6nights in the one bedroom standard view. Having never stayed at either resorts we are really looking forward to it.

Ok I checked online and a 1 bedroom pool/garden view is available.. So All I have to do is call and cancel my 2bedroom for Fri and change it to a 1 bedroom? I understand it will be a new reservation but do I have to check out of the room and then check back in??

You may be able to stay in the 1 bedroom portion, as all BWV 2 bdrm units are lock-offs. That is assuming you book the same view category as the 2 bedroom. Be sure to make this request with the front desk at check-in. And yes, you will need to check back in on the day of the change and get new door keys.

Yes. At a minimum, you will have to go down to the front desk and get new keys.

You can request to stay in the 1 bedroom portion of the lock out 2 bedroom when you make the 1 bedroom reservation. Then politely remind them at check in. You would have a good chance of not having to change rooms for that last night. They do try.

However, it is certainly possible that you would have to change rooms. But changing rooms at the same resort is less hassle than changing resorts.

Good luck!

So we will need to pack and pretty much check out of the room and then hopefully check back in?

We have a 2 bedroom handicapped roll in shower Pool view room for the first 5 nights and the same set up is available for the 1 bedroom so hopefully it would be the same room..

If both of your rooms are roll-in shower, then you will probably be able to stay. But, yo u should check with the front desk first thing in the morning on the "move day." They should then be able to tell you if you have to move, or if you can stay. Just check with them early before you do any heavy packing...and leave yourself time to pack, just in case you do have to move.

If you don;t have to move, they should be able to issue your new keys first thing in the morning, assuming you have vacated the studio first.

No I all goes well and they let you stay in the same room then you will just need to pick up your new room keys. No need to move your stuff if they let you keep the same room. Odds are good they will let you but there is no guarantee.
