I currently have a week in August booked at Jambo house - a 1br std (I'm waitlisted for Kidani). I'm worried about being so isolated and away from our favorite parks (Epcot and HS). We are considering switching our reservation to BWV 1br std view BUT we would have to bring an air mattress for my youngest to sleep on (she'll be 7 at the time). Has anyone done this? Are the 1br's at BWV smaller than AKV? My kids ages are 13, 11 and 7. Which pool and activities would be better suited to their ages?

If I'm not mistaken BWV 1br still only holds 4 people legally (+1 under 3yo). I'm not sure from your post if you are a family of 4 or 5.

As for the size of the rooms:

BWV
Studio: 359 sq. ft.
1 BR: 712 sq. ft.
2 BR: 1071 sq. ft.
GV: 2142 sq. ft.

AKV:
Studio: 316- 366 sq.ft.
1BR: 629-802 sq.ft.
2BR: 945 - 1173 sq.ft.
GV: 2201 sq.ft.

I don't believe BWV would allow a family of 5. 1 bedrooms at BWV have a occupancy limit of 4 or 5 with a child under 3. More than likely the 1 bedroom you have booked at AKL is for 5 with a sleeper chair?

We are a family of 5. MS told me yesterday that BWV allows a family of 5, they just do not supply the bedding so he suggested an air mattress for my daughter? Now I'm really confused. He told me people do it all the time?

Have you ever stayed at AKV? If not, I'd say keep your reservation there. The thrill of the destination of AKV is so special in itself, and the bus service is very good from there. I do think you would be happier at Kidani though.

Yes, MS will book your family of 5 and as you said - just not supply bedding for the 5th. I'd personally just stay at AKV. I'm one who feels the bus service is very good so I would not worry about being too far away from the action. Also, the AKV resort is beautiful and has a lot to do. It's a resort we could stay at and never go to the parks.

I own at BWV, but have stayed many, many times at AKL. I think AKL has about the best bus service of any WDW resort. I never felt isolated there. In fact once we'd return from a day in the parks, we always found the surrounds to be relaxing and great! If you're used to commando mode from sun-up to late into the night - you won't notice the difference of not being able to walk to a park. I'd stay stick with your plan and make up your own mind if you'd doing it again. But don't forget to truely get involved with what the resort has to offer!

Yes, they do allow 5 in a one bedroom and people do what they have to regarding sleeping for the 5th person. Jambo has the sleeper chair, and I really like Jambo, and suggest that you keep your reservation. However, here's pixie dust, because with the second full bathroom, Kidani is "better" in that sense for 5 in a 1 bedroom.

Thank you:) We have never stayed at AKV - I'm worried about Jambo - is there enough to do for my kids there (ages 13,11,7) or would Kidani be better because of the pool?

You can use Kidani's pool, and I don't think that it would be that inconvenient for your children, if they are active...they can get a shuttle, or bus or walk over to Kidani's pool. There are "bead" activities for kids at both places, and I think there would be enough to interest your family for at least the one time.

If you're waitlisted for Kidani and get it, it would be better mostly because of the second bathroom.

You have to go to Jambo for a sauna or steam room. My DSis prefers Jambo for those reasons alone. You may want to make time for yourself too!

1. You should be aware that chance of even getting BWV 1BR standard now for August is likely slim.

2. BWV 1BRs are comparable in size to Jambo 1BRs. The difference is that BWV rooms are a little wider than Jambo but Jambo's rooms are a little longer. It is the Kidani 1BRs that are about 100 sq ft larger and if room size is important you should hope for waitlist to come through there.

3. Jambo has a combined shower/tub, while BWV and Kidani have separate shower and tub in main bath and Kidani has a second bathroom.

4. All standard views at Jambo are pool view; if switched to Kidani you could get pool or street view.

5. Jambo has an excellent pool that is larger than Kidani; Kidani has the longer slide and the elaborate kids water-play area, but there is plenty to do at Jambo including kids events involving animal viewings, stories, others. BWV is very good.

6. Jambo beats Kidani on number of restaurants. Boma is a good buffet, Jiko a good table service, and Mara gives you fast counter service. Kidani has only table service, Sanaa, although it is one of the best at WDW. Jambo has a much larger store than Kidani. BWV gives you walking distance access to about 20 restaurants -- those in the resort, those in the other Epcot resorts, those in Epcot and the Studios.

7. BWV gives you walking access (or boat) to both Epcot and Studios and that is a major plus. AKV is busses to everywhere but bus system is usually very good. BWV's bus system for MK, AK, and Downtown Disney is usually abysmal with multiple resort stops and often long waits to have bus show up at the park. (I own at both AKV and BWV and bus sytem at AKV is much better.)

Believe you would be fine with any of them. With BWV you would need to bring an air mattress. The sleeping chairs at AKV are actually quite wide and long. Kidani if you can get it gives the best room because of size and extra bath. Nevertheless, you will not be disappointed with any of the three.

I think Kidani is the best choice for a family of 5! Having an extra bath will be priceless! Have a GREAT trip!:cool1:
