We will be staying at the BWI for the first time mid-December. I have a standard room booked, but wanted to know if there is a specific area of the resort I should request? I have three little girls so want to be in an area that is accessible to getting onto the boardwalk in a fairly short amount of time. Also, I heard that it is quicker to walk to Epcot, but how long is the walk to MGM? Would the boat be better to take there?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Hmmmm, If I had 3 little ones to keep up with I would probably just request to be close to the elevators. Those halls are pretty long!;)

We love walking to MGM. It takes about 15 minutes at a pretty leisurely pace. The boats take about 20-25 minutes. If we take the boat we always get off at the Swan/Dolphin and walk to BWI. It just seems quicker to me.

Have a great trip. We'll be there December 4-11!:teeth:

Thanks for your input! Is there a specific location near the elevators I should ask for? I don't know the layout of the resort at all!!

Thanks for letting me know about the walk to MGM also!

About the elevators..... We've only stayed in the Garden Suites, so we haven't had to deal with the elevators (except to get to the concierge lounge). But I think there is only on set of elevators for the hotel. The halls are very long! I would think that just requesting close to the elevators would be fine though. I think there is a map of the BWI at www.allearsnet.com . It may give you a better idea of the layout of the hotel.

Happy Planning!:D

Some of the standard views have a view of Epcot or a courtyard. The ones to avoid are the ones facing the front driveway. We stayed there for 1 night before moving to the villas the next day and our room was next to the walkway to the bus stop. People were walking by our balcony all the time. I didn't make any requests since it was only 1 night.

You should definitely read thru the BWI FAQ thread at the top of this resort board. There is a wealth of info there on everything aobut the resort including room #'s and locations.

Be careful about being too close to the elevators. We were very close last trip and could hear the "whooshing" of the elevators and it was sometimes noisy with the bulk of guests walking by our room as they returned home each night.

Fortunately we were so tired it didn't keep us up long!
