11 months out to the date and no 2br standard view availability at bw?!
Am I missing something? Is august a busy time?

People are also starting to walk the SV rooms for fall. So, keep checking each day and if it is indeed walking, the rooms will open back up.

But, as mentioned, being lock offs, and the studios being one of the hardest to book, when they are gone so are all the 2 bedrooms.

Is it mainly the standard view 2 BR that are the toughest to find? What about grand villas?

Yes, standard view at BWV are difficult to book. There are very few of them, so you need to be an owner with 11 months booking privileges. Boardwalk view are similar. BWV has only seven grand villas, but SSR has quite a few. Other resorts have varying numbers of grand villas, so how difficult they are to book will depend on what resort.

If you are looking at two bedroom villas at BWV, plan on P/G view, especially if you are not a BWV owner.

The only 2 bedroom standard we've gotten was when we walked the reservation. Other times, we have had to get P/G views. Hopefully people are walking their fall dates/Food/wine/Halloween, and your dates will show available soon.
I'd be ecstatic if BWV would offer dedicated 2 bedrooms. IT's one of the only things I can't stand about owning BWV.

As others said - walking. The most intense walking season has begun 😅

Folks walking into Sept (most economical season). Others already walking Fall for the best shot getting what they want. Fall-Jan is high demand across DVC and very competitive at BWV.

BWV standard studios and 2BRs (which fill with studio reservations because all are lock-offs), tend to fill almost year round for any given start date within moments after 8 a.m. eastern at 11 months out, or often even before. Winners are those whose computers communicate faster with Disney's than others trying to reserve right at 8 a.m. Many lose the battle.

Prior to 2016, August time was still a time you could possibly get the standard view studio as long as you made the attempt at 8 a.m., 11 months out, but then DVD made a change during the 2016 refurb that increased standard studio demand for the summer months (and year round) -- it redid the studios to have a less-than-twin-size Murphy bed that pulled out of a cabinet and thus allowed members to book 5 in the studio (plus a child under 3) rather than the previous 4 (plus a child under 3). Within a year after that change, those studios completed an evolution to having a year round 11-month reservation issue.

Particularly for Aug time, one possibility, if you find it full at 11-months out, is to keep checking for several days when something may open due to walkers passing by, most of whom are not trying to walk to August time, only through it. You might yourself attempt a walk by booking an earlier reservation and then walking it to the one you want. The problem with that at BWV is that even starting a walk is difficult because the standard studios/2BRs typically fill almost instantly at 11-months out year round. Thus, finding a time to begin a walk is itself difficult. Nevertheless, a time to look for a walking start date to walk into Aug time would be 11-months out for time from July 7 to July 31, one of lowest DVC demand times of the year at WDW.

Asked above is whether the BWV GVs have the same 11-month problem as the standard studios and 2BRs. GVs have filled right at 8 a.m. at 11-months for times during the high demand fall season, but rarely other times of the year

Just kind of snowballs.

Each thing decreasing availability causes more walking, increasing the need, resulting in more walking and need.

I always assumed walking was at most a few weeks. How long do some people go?? I just walked my first reservation only a couple of days and it was a lot of stress those few days early in the morning! I couldn't imagine doing that for more than a week or two lol

Some will do it for months…I, like you, could not see myself more than a few weeks.

Once you have the room, you can walk anytime during the day. If you have enough points, even just once a week.
The only remote case is if some of the rooms are out of service due to planned maintenance, in that case, walking a 7 nights reservation right at 8am give a better chance of jumping over the obstacle. It's a very rare occurrence (to the point that I wouldn't bother unless the downtime is known in advance).

Yep, it’s a lot of work. But I guess if you’re looking for specific date, room type with a longer trip length… maybe worth it?

Say you want a week in BW standard 2BR for mid-Oct. It’s rough. How bad do you want it 😂 I can see somebody keep checking this week to get in and find an open day just to ‘start’ the walk. That can be a feat in itself. After that, they just have to come back once a week and flip it a week forward 7 or 8 times. Honestly, that can be easier than the time and effort when you don’t get what you want at 11m 8am and need to stalk days and waitlist.

Members are definitely walking BW standard and Boardwalk view studios. I had to take a 2BR garden/pool view earlier in the week but was able to change it this morning to SV.
