Are the villas far from the main pool area? Are the villas far from the actual Boardwalk?

the 1 bedroom villa i stayed at in Sept was literally right off of the pool! we were on the ground floor and could open our balcony doors, wiggle through the bushes ;) walk across a patch of grass and be standing at the pool! I know some are also close to the boardwalk!

The DVC villas are all the units with the color coding. (The other side of the resort without the color coding is the Boardwalk Inn.) The main pool is in the partial hexagon area surrounded by rooms coded red (water/garden view). The BW goes all around the lake, but the DVC villas that are right above the BW are coded blue.

Wow! Great photo! Depending on the location of your room, it looks like there cold be a long walk to the lobby/boardwalk area. We don't mind walking but we are taking my parent's and thinking about staying at BWV. One parent will have a scooter and the other is legally blind but still tries to maintain independence. How many sets of elevator are there? The one time we stayed at BWV we had a room very close to the lobby area elevators and we didn't really explore the rest of the resort other than the pool.

Jean,

Great Photo!!! When I was "home" in Jan 2008 I wondered how long of a walk I had from my room to the lobby, just looing at the photo made me realize, it was loong!!

I was in the next to last room, standard view facing the parking lot/water way. Now I know why I was really tired each day :rotfl2:

Just for the record, I am not responsible for this photo. I just copied it from another thread and saved it because I also thought it was great.
Disneyhappy,
There is only one set of elevators. I would definitely explain your situation to MS when you make your reservation. Tell them you have a medical reason and would like to be close to the elevators.

Wow! That's one HUGE resort for having only one set of elevators!! :scared1:

There are a couple of sets on the Inn side. I guess we Villa people are presumed to be fitness buffs!

That was brought up at an annual meeting I attended. They admitted it was an oversight but nothing they could be done about it. There should be elevators on each end.

I would think it would be a safety issue as well.

This fall, we were ground level, standard view, which actually worked out quite well.
It was equidistant from the lobby area and to the other direction, the outside door towards parking. (Where you can easily walk to the bus stops, no steps but is is kinda uphill) We never needed to use the elevator to go to the Boardwalk/Friendship boats) or Buses.

I don't think it's a safety issue since there are several stairwells throughout the building. If you are staying at one of the ends and can walk the steps, they are a time saver. But they are fire escapes, so they aren't pretty (someone once posted that they should make them nicer. I don't think you can carpet a fire escape).

Excellent photo. If you are staying Standard is there anything you should request? This will be our first trip to the BWV (just my DH and myself) and walking isn't really a problem...just didn't know if I should add a request.

Many people request "across from bus stop" because it gives you a chance to see the higher fireworks from Epcot. Because there is a door on the ground level across from the bus stop, it also provides a shortcut to your room, assuming you can use the stairs if you are on a higher floor.

We were in one of the closest standard rooms to the elevators... which also put us close to the portico. The issue with that location is that the luggage delivery trucks pull in all night long... with clanging of the luggage carts happening throughout the night.

Since you dont mind walking... you might want to ask to be far from the elevators.

Thanks FLYNZ4 and jekjones1558 for the advice. I may try and put both on, although we are only there for two nights so it's not a huge deal. I wonder if I just say - facing Epcot if that would work.

Thanks!

They pretty much all face Epcot.

The deal with Standard View and Boardwalk View (preferred view is different, but this is a good generalization for both Standard and Boardwalk).

High floors far from the elevators will have the best chance of seeing fireworks, and they are likely to be quieter. However, they will have long walks from the lobby and the elevators and you may be taking a lot of stairs (if you have a stroller or aren't in great shape this can be especially difficult).

Lower floors and closer to the elevators gets you shorter walks to your room and very convienent access to Luna Park, but they may be noisier and they may not get you much of a peek at fireworks.

Sometimes trees or parts of the building block the high floors/far from the elevators anyway. And sometimes the lower floors aren't noisy at all....
