I am thinking about reserving a GV for an upcoming family trip (10+1 baby), and I can't decide between a 2-br/2studio combo, a OKW GV, or a BW GV. Points-wise, the OKW GV is the best option, but I don't know if I want to leave it up to the 7-month window. I can get the the 2-br/2studio combo at BW easy enough at BW (being my home resort), but I am now thinking about going for the BW GV.

My question to you is, in your opinions, are the BW GVs worth the high number of points they cost? I have seen pictures, but never been in one. Part of me says "when am I going to have an excuse to get the BW GV again", the other half says "save you points, horde them". Also, should I go for it, are there particular ones I should request? Opinions on 1 vs 2 story, floors, views, etc.

Thanks

For a once in a lifetime trip, maybe, I might even do it once someday, kind of doubt it, but maybe. The OKW GV is larger, you can park out front and is half the points during some seasons.

Generally, no, I don't think the BWV GV is worth all those points at all when OKW is available.

I would wither try to trade the points WAY before the eleven month window with an OKW owner or get the two bedroom/studio at eleven months and try to get the OKW GV at seven months. Some seasons are easy, some possible, some nest to impossible.

One factor should be just how close you want to be to all those people. Some families prosper sharing space. Others, even when the space is large, get on each other's nerves; for them the ability to go back to their own privacy is more important than the glamor of a GV.

Luckily, thats never been an issue with my family (at least this side). Very laid back, get along well.

Now if it we're my father's side of the family........we'd probably be booking at BW AND OKW.

With the 2 bedroom-2 studio combo you have 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, but with GV you only have 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. 10 people in a GV is a little crowded but can be done. With that many people you probably should go for the 2 bedroom-2 studio, it affords a lot more privacy and more beds and baths.

OKW GV has four baths....I thought BWV GV did too???? Is that true?

For a party of that size, I'd consider the two separate 2BR units rather than a GV. You get a bit more flexibility with the two separate units, inlcuding the ability to have someplace quiet when you need it.

But if you do go for a GV, you'll find the ones at OKW are a bit larger. For the points, that would be my choice.

If I had the points and the excuse, I would get the BoardWalk GV just for the location! The view is worth the points in my opinion and if I was taking that amount of family - I would want to treat them to the best.

Another advantage over the 2br/2studios would be the dining area and being able to have everyone in one place without being crowded out.

As others have said, the disadvantage is the # of baths and with the 2br/2studios - you may not be able to be close to each other (i.e. different floors etc.)

And just for the record, the BW GV has 3 baths and is 123 sq ft (2,142 vs 2,265) smaller than OKW GV. Roughly the size of that 4th bathroom. If it's important to you.

I say go for it - you may never get the chance again.

When I mentioned baths I meant places where you can take a bath. I stayed in a GV at OKW, they may have a small bathroom downstairs for people to use for other than taking a bath. I really do not remember. When people start to reach capacity in these units things can get crowded, by that I mean people using the living room to sleep in, with 10 people and one child depending on how things work out, I would still say they are better off in the 2 bedroom and 2 studio situation, especially since it is BW where things are very small compared to OKW-as we all know:D When I rented the GV I had 5 adults and one child, I don't believe in anyone sleeping in the living room.

My question to you is, in your opinions, are the BW GVs worth the high number of points they cost?
Without a doubt yes! The only accommondations that can even compare with the BWV GV in luxury, fantastic location and guest ameinities to the hilt, are the suites in the deluxe resorts. The BWV's GV are truely incredible, they are the top of the line in providing their guests with luxury and vacation pampering.
Regarding the size of the BWV GVs being smaller than OKW GV, this has never been confirmed. Some sources have the BWV GV being larger while others have the OKW GV being larger. Either way the size difference is very small.
Also BWV's GVs have 3 Full baths, just as OKW's GV does. OKW GV also has a powder room, not an additional FULL bath!

UConnJack - I feel your dilemia. We were supposed to have an extended family trip that was cancelled. I asked to see a BW GV when I was there over the summer and absolutely feel in love. After I made alternate plans, the trip is back on for a different date. I keep looking at the point chart and saying I could have 2 2 bedrooms for less points (that is what I want to do because I am cheap) but I can't get the GV out of my head. The space is AMAZING!!!! The living room will allow us all to be together comfortably and together is what the trip the is about.

Also, the location and view of the BW GV is fabulous!!!

ok, I thing I'm done reconvincing myself;)

Best of luck
Sandy

Sorry Dee
I do not know about the one story OKW GV, or even if they exist; but the 2 floor GV has on the first floor: a full bath w/jazuzzi tub, etc off the MB, and then a powder room with toilet and sink off the lr/dr/kitchen areas. This counts as a bath and a half. On the second floor are 2 full baths in each br. That is a total of 3.5 baths. Which is 3 full baths and a powder room.

I don't have any idea what you are looking at.

An OKW GV has four full baths.

Just one more way that OKW beats BWV.

Boys, stop fighting now!

While I've never stayed in one...I'll have a go at this.

Technically, the 2nd bath on the main floor of the OKW GV is a 3/4 bath (shower only...not tub). However, it has everything I need...so I'd use it! :)

DH has informed me that we will never give up the master suite to guests...so I guess I really don't need to worry about it.

princess:

Edited to say that I always get a kick out of these OKW/BWV debates!;)

Having stayed in a BWV GV, it is an amazing view and the one story layout is great but the points to stay there are amazingly high - we may have stayed there the one and only time between now and 2042 already

Thinking of it richyams, it is odd that BWV GV does not have at least a powder room and that you need to go into one of the bedroom areas to access the facilities

The BWV GV's have a massive laundry and utility room - there certainly was enough square footage to put in a pwdr room

thanks

You would also think that a BWV two bedroom unit that sleeps 8(LOL) would have dinner seating for more than two in the dining room.
