BUZZ's Brigade - TEAM CHALLENGE - POST MILES/HOURS HERE

WOW!!! This is the most I've done so far. Now I did run the 5K and the 1 mile fun run on Sat., so I get to count that twice, but I also did my first 6 miler today. :woohoo: I finished in 1:22:03. Oh my STARS!!!!!! It was hard, not so much from my legs, but the rest of my body. My stomach was feeling weird and my breathing was not in sync. :confused3 I tried sport beans for the first time, so I may not have done them right, hence the tummy trouble. Nothing serious, just uncomfortable.

My totals for 4/18-4/24:

Miles: 23.84

Minutes/Hours: 5:02:33 (Chris, is that 33 too technical, should I round it down?)

I am so proud of myself for doing the six miles. I was supposed to maintain a 13:20 pace, but I wasn't too far off of that. If I hadn't had to walk so much, I would have made it.

In other news, my DD (9) got hit with a softball tonight. I heard it go smack when it hit her. :scared1: Now my DD is nothing but skin and bones (right Anne? ;) ) so she had no fat to protect her. :sad1: She has a big red spot on her left shoulder, but I think we got the ice on it quick enough, that she is going to be ok. The catcher for the other team got hit in the eye, after taking off her mask to catch a pop up foul, and got a healthy bump and cut, so I'm lucky. :wizard: I gave her a healthy dose of Motrin tonight. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great week! Good luck Minnie participants!!! :cheer2:

Go Buzzies!!!!!! To Infinity and Beyond!!!!!

Wow, Cam, you are doing awesome!

Chris - Looking at the spreadsheet, it looks like we don't report hours again until the end of the month, is that your understanding to?

Cindy, We are reporting as we normally do. Friday through Thursday.

I verified we can do it however we have been doing it.

Chris

Allie - Congrats on your 6 Mile run! Putting it down to seconds is fine with me. You earned it! :thumbsup2
I too use sports beans, but haven't had any stomach discomfort because of them. They are a trial and error thing though from what I've heard so if they give you too many problems in the future you may want to shop around.

Jackie - I would say yes count the mowing if you are pushing. If nothing else it is a good work out pushing a mower. If any of our other Captains disagree just let us know.

As for me I did 26.5 Miles this week. 20 of them running and 6.5 walking. I have my first 5k in a long while on Saturday and it looks like yucky weather so I may end up running after all (Was planning on walking with the family.)
Just over a week till my first Half. I'm so excited about it.

Alright everyone Buzz on..... :cheer2:

Thanks, Cindy!
Allie -- i am so glad DD is okay. Wow! THat is so scary!
Jackie -- My furbaby really needs to lose some weight. I noticed recently she is chunking out. Maybe now that work isn't so crazy for me, I'll add an evening walk to my agenda for Cali's sake. I  my :dog:
Wow! Everyone is doing great!

My totals for the week:
Time -- 390 minutes (or 6 hours 30 minutes)
Miles -- 32.57 miles

I've also been taking the stairs at my parking garage every day (except the two evenings I left work so late that the stairwells & elevators were locked!)

Hey everyone!

I only worked out one day this week. I did elliptical/bike as I am trying to heal my shin splints.

Total 60min
Miles 9

Have a great weekend!!

Sandi/Allie OUCH!!!, Hope DD's arm is doing ok! I would have thought it would have broken her arm!! Congrats on the new distance! Isn't it amazing?? for the Sports Beans, I found that it is better to spread them out, rather than do the whole bag at once. Always followed with water. HTH!
Michelle, You got shin splints for your birthday??!! You are doing the right thing, take care!!
Jackie, Of course mowing counts as cross training!! You were PUSHING the thing, weren't you??!! :rotfl: Have fun on your 5K Sunday!
Chris,
I have my first 5k in a long while on Saturday
Really?? and the NAME of this event? and WHERE is it?? ;)
bjkj/Jill, glad to hear you are feeling better! :cool1:
Cam, I just don't know how you managed to fit so much into the same twenty four hours that I have. You are a wonder.
Cindy, Take it easy on your 20 miler this weekend!!! :)
Karen, is John going with you this weekend? Have a safe trip! Be careful lifting/carrying..you have a 15K next weekend!! :rolleyes1

OK, my report:
Miles: 12.31
Minutes: 179

:goodvibes Anne
Kathy x 2, Eva, Leslie, Duane, Mike, clombardi/Coleen, Jessica, Wendy, and John :wave2:

Anne - Maybe I didn't use enough of the beans? :confused3 I only used about 4 or 5 on the whole run. I did drink water after taking them, but I don't know why (meaning the reason for drinking after taking them), just that it says to on the pkg. I spread them out at like mile 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5. Eating just one or two at a time.

Thanks for all the concern for DD's arm. Luckily, after all the redness, from the ice, went away, we realized she got hit on the backside of her upper arm. There isn't much, but probably more fat there than had it been her shoulder blade. (which is where I thought it hit her) Today, there is barely a mark. Thank goodness. She is sort of a drama queen so she was complaining at the bus stop this morning about it hurting. I decided it must not hurt too bad when she bent down and picked up one of our dogs and held her in her arms like a baby. ;) It was only hurting when she is needed to do something. :rolleyes1

Chris, Really?? and the NAME of this event? and WHERE is it?? ;)

It is the Run for Hope 5k. It's just outside of Columbus. All proceeds go to benefit our County's Relay for Life. I'm on the Committee and I'm hoping for a huge turnout, but I think for it being our first year it will be less than 150. Especially with the rain in the forecast. :wizard:

Good job, Jessica!

Sandi/Allie, well, yes, not taking enough could be your problem. On the package it does say to take a bag 30 minutes before you exercise and then one packet every 45 minutes of activity. I know I don't do the 30 minutes before..but at my pace (14:30), around mile 4, I start with 3-4, and then as needed on down the road. The water is to help get the electrolytes throughout your system (said in my very unknowledgeable voice while looking for Cindy over my shoulder..;)) It's VERY good that you are practicing with this stuff now. It took me a long time to figure out that I was drinking too much on my LW's. There was someone on the boards that posted she didn't take any fuel/electrolytes on her very LW's. Everyone is different. Glad DD will survive!! :upsidedow
Chris, Thanks! You are on the calendar, now!! Here's pixiedust: pixiedust: for a successful inaugural event, race director!!
:goodvibes Anne

Thanks Anne! I can always count on you. Actually, they were the beans that you gave me at the Pop meet. You were so gracious to share your goodies. I'll try them again another time. Maybe an AM run, not a PM run, or I'll bring more water with me. :thumbsup2

Hey all! Greetings from Georgia.

Karen & I are helping a friend's daughter move. I think we should be able to claim driving from NJ to GA as crosstraining considering I had about 3 1/2 hours of sleep and we then drove straight through. So is that another 14 hours I can count for next week? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This week I was only able to get 2 days on the bike.

Hours = 2
Miles = 40

2I&B
John

Hey Buzzies!
Allie- Hope DD is doing well and healing. Way to go on the six mile. Having that 305 helps doesn't it!!
Chris-Thanks for all you do taking care of our numbers. And way to go with the Relay!:cheer2:
Cam & Cindy-Week after week your miles and minutes totally amaze me!:worship:
Michelle- You take care of those shin splints (you know you are older now)!
John-I personally think driving from NJ to GA should count double.
Anne & Leslie- I schedule my yearly homage to Disney World last week. As I was going over my schedule up popped up the Everest 5k in September. I didn’t even know about it when I set up our trip. I set the trip up around grandsons off days from school…. Soooooo in the next week or so I’m going to register for DW (Lee Ann) DGS (Pierce) and yours truly to do our first race together. I saw where you were already scheduled so I’m already looking forward to it.:yay:

Anyhow here's my totals: (Lots of time off from work this week!!!)

Miles - 34.9
Time-8:05

Hey Team,

I did my third 5k and the first one since last July and I set a PR. Took me 27 Minutes and 14 seconds. This course was much more challenging than my previous 5k's from a course perspective so I'm really excited (Lots of Hills.) Finished 15th out of 137 official Finishers (Lots of walkers including my wife - I'M SO PROUD OF HER)

Something else I found odd I was nervous today. I hadn't been at my last 3 events including the Marathon, but at a 5k I was nervous. I think it's because I knew alot of the folks there and other than my Wife and Daughters no one had seen me in an event.

Keep up the great work team!
Chris

WOO HOO FOR YOU on the PR!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

My Totals for Last Week:

46.2 Miles (33 miles of actual running plus the extra 13.1 I get from doubling the half marathon)

5 hours 48 minutes (running time plus some ab and arm work).

Chris - Congrats on the PR - that's awesome! Congrats to your DW too!

Michelle - :wizard: for your shin splints.

Anne - I'm flattered that you think I know what I'm talking about, but I'm with Allie, I actually drink water only because it says so on the package:rotfl: I've never actually thought about why - I just thought it made sense. But the electrolyte thing certainly makes sense.

Allie - Congrats on the 6 miler! Enjoy every milestone. I loved every time I ran a new distance thinking, that is further than I've ever run before!

:wave2: to those I've missed. I need to get going and do some errands - including purchasing things that I need for next weekend!:cool1: Looking forward to meeting the Minnie folks at the Minnie events. I won't be at the WISH meet - my sister would kill me if I suggested leaving the parks when we haven't been to WDW in 5 years and we only have 2 days - but hope to meet up with everyone at the start and finish of both races.
