Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters is the Hardest Game Ever.

I can't either....and I can't break from level 4....such a bummer but I keep hoping!

Yeah, you want hard, try the one in Florida. Or is that aggravating and no fun? :)
Best score in WDW is 196,000 or so. Got 485,000 on my one ride through in California.

This was my best score out of at least five times through. Note that I am riding alone (this was the only time).

I chalk up my success to a wasted youth spent at Kresge's pumping nickles and dimes into the shooting arcades! :hippie:

As for the ride stopping: my experience is that if it is a brief stop, say to let on a handicapped guest, you can keep shooting. However, if it's a longer stop...long enough for the lights to come on...your screen shuts off and you start over. I was SO bummed last summer. We were stopped in the WDW version and I had a score at least triple the highest I'd ever had before...then the lights came on and it all went away!!!

Thanks for the link to the cheat sheet, CupidsKiss. :thumbsup2

You mean the guns at DL actually lift off the ride vehicle? If so, I might manage to actually hit something! :lmao:

Unless I've lost my mind, it's the opposite way around...the ones at Disneyland are affixed and the ones at WDW are hand-held.

I'm NOT going to say you've lost your mind! But... :rolleyes1

First time I rolled over the display, I quit shooting thinking I couldn't score more than 999,999. Oops! Never stop shooting!

The guns on the Disneyland version of Astro Blasters DO lift off and out of their cradle and you can move them around as far as you can stretch the cord attached to them. This helps a lot in trying to score points. In fact, people tend to not put them back in their socket properly and they can go flopping all around and hit the vehicle. The WDW guns are stationary and cannot be removed.

Still, even with the ability to pull the guns out and turn the vehicle around in a full 360 degree circle, my scores are hideous. I mean, really bad. I cannot shoot anything, it seems. But I love the ride - it's one of my favorites at DLR. The only problem I have with it is that I like to spin the vehicle just for fun, even if it doesn't help my scores any, and my friend gets annoyed because I am spinning it at all or that I am not spinning it to help HER scores!!! So I actually think I would rather ride alone so I can spin as much as I want.

Also, the last time we went in December, out of, I think, 5 rides on Astro Blasters, only one photo came out for e-mailing at the end. They were having a LOT of technical trouble and many people's pictures were not showing up at the kiosks at the end, and it continued that way for our entire trip to DLR. I hope they have worked the bugs out of that photo situation because that is such a cool feature to have.

My highest is level 5 but we did get stuck in front of a triangle, which helped a lot.

i find the zurg secret spot in the last room is the easiest to hit, and i focus on diamonds and triangles. my highest was almost 700000, however the stupid picture thing did not work on mine!! GRRRR. . however,I do have a pic somewhere of my score.

Oh my goodness... I TOTALLY agree with the title of this Thread.
That game is downright impossible for me to master.

Level 6 but guilty as chareged the ride broke down and I just kept shooting. My DBF wasnt aware that his gun would sitll fire while the ride was stopped so I kicked his booty he got fake mad it was very silly:lmao:

You should have! I was having a day. Someone at work attempted to kill me...:rotfl: . We had a mandatory meeting and a chick at the table next to mine had on perfume that sent me into a major asthma attack.

After an hour or so of choking and wheezing (of course, my inhaler was at home!) I got to feeling decent. That was just about in time for a second meeting, at which a coworker made a personal comment that had me so andry that I was seeing red.

You're right! By the time I got home I realized my post was completely backward. Thank God yesterday is over!

Can't stand people who wear strong perfume. I have asthma too, but take my inhaler everywhere. Glad you are better today!

I am actually better at Buzz than my DH. He hates that! And he likes to play first person shooter games on the computer! :rotfl: After the last time, I realized he didn't know there was a tiny red light you can use to help aim. Not that you can always see it, but it helps some.
I'm taking that print out with me next time. Wonder if I should share it with him? Maybe after I try it out first! ;)

i hate to break it to you ppl but i am buzz lightyear. It shows on myspace. lol i love that ride.

Since you quoted me and DL vacation is over :sad1: (we visited May 2008) I can confirm that the guns at DL CAN be removed from their cradle! :thumbsup2 The WDW are fixed to the ride vehicle. ;)

this ride is so much fun!
It's a shame i'm so bad at it.:rotfl:
Disney should have more rides that are interactive like this.

The targest give you points when the ride is stopped, I did it and it was the only time I could actually beat my husbands score, lol

I got to play about 30 times on my recent trip (one day my wife took the kids back for a nap and I was able to get 4 new FastPasses every 40 minutes, so most of them were that day!), and I discovered that many of the guns are in really poor shape. On some, I had a hard time hitting targets even if I was sitting right in front of them. A couple shot straight and I was able to get good scores. Here's my best!

I finally found the "discarded toy". When I read that it was in the "last room", I thought it was in the one where the game stops. It's not. It's in the previous one (where you're focused on Zurg in the center). The discarded toy is on the outside about 2/3rds of the way through the room.

My tips:

1) When your gun is first activated (when you're not close enough to hit anything yet), shot at the wall (or somewhere nobody else is shooting) several times to figure out which way your gun shoots. Most of them don't shoot straight, so you have to quickly figure out whether you need to shoot left, right, high, low, etc.
2) Focus on triangles first, diamonds second, and squares in the few places where neither triangles or diamonds are. After a few times through, you learn where the best targets are.
3) Keep shooting. You can easily hit most targets 5-6 times in a row before you're on to the next one. If the game stops, you can still keep shooting.
4) Aim for Zurg's chest for the 50k target. Hope for the game to stop while you're there (it never did for me!).
5) Learn the location of the hidden targets (jack in the box, pop-up monsters, discarded toy, etc.). Don't forget the four hidden diamonds in the tunnel.

I do not have asthma but nearly puke and gag and get breathing problems from strong perfume, some air sprays and lysol as well as some chemical odors. I send you hugs and chocolates and hope she will get the drift that she is drifting into other peoples' spaces.

I love the game and know that there is no hope of winning anything and it is very hard because I cannot see where the red light is supposed to go. Give me a rifle and I could blow away the targets but that red scope is not fun.
